*** BITS AND ROBS *** Rob: "I was watching the movie GOOD TIME the other day and I was like, "I wouldn't mind doing that again." I just love the certain figures of speech he uses, it's an edgy character and a lot of different angles to him. 27 Down (सताईस डाऊन)
Directed by- #awtarkrishnakaul
Starring- #mkraina #raakheegulzar
• The film was shot on location on #Mumbai trains, platforms, and at Mumbai's Victoria Terminus station, the #cinematographer of the film, Apurba Kishore Bir was 22 years old, when he got the project, he shot 70 percent of the film using a hand-held camera, inspired by #thebattleofalgiers a 1966 war film with an aim to put the camera right in the conflict, he shot with wide lenses rather than zooms. Bir chose to shoot the film in black and white, as he wanted stark contrasts. As it was difficult to control across crowd, most of the film's platform scenes were shot in the night, or at side platforms, and extras made it look like a busy time.

Just like it’s title, “Raavanan” (2010) borrows it’s plot from Hindu Mythology. A masterstroke for some and musty and stale for others, This Mani Ratnam art film has its positives and negatives. Because it’s directed by Mani Ratnam, we can’t help but compare it to his previous legendary films but I absolutely love how he blurs the line between what we perceive as good and evil. I believe the take-away message I got from this film is how inside each and every one of us there is a devil and a saint. The real question is which one we nurture the most. 4/5! 🍿🍿🍿🍿

Oh hai, I'm back. After taking a short break to emotionally recover from The Room, it's time for Part II of this double feature. Unsurprisingly, it's James Franco's tribute to Wiseau and his vision, The Disaster Artist. #TheDisasterArtist #JamesFranco #2017 #DaveFranco #SethRogen #AriGraynor #AlisonBrie #TheRoom #TommyWiseau #GregSestero #TomBissell #OhHaiMark #TheCitizenKaneOfBadMovies #WorstFilmOfAllTime #AmericanCinema #film #cinephile

1. So I bought a new phone. My Galaxy S4 just COMPLETELY snuffed it. Couldn’t recover anything. So now I’m in the Apple cult. 8 PLUS. Big bloody sucker. But I got nice long legs and it fits well in my front jeans pocket. Good leg mobility still. And great battery life. So I don’t know, does the picture look better than my others? Maybe.

2. THE MOVIE. BLOODY BRILLIANT. It’s like if Kubrick, Herzog, and Sophia Coppola had a film baby. Jonathan Glazer’s stuff was already nicely moody and freaky, but Under the Skin really is his masterpiece.

There’s great casting, and then there’s great meta-casting, and choosing Scarlett, the defining sex symbol of the 21st century, to play an alien embodying their understanding of the most sensual female form to snare men into her trap (the goo is so scary) is brilliant. It’s like a reverse Superman thing.

The film is also a brilliant form of the Kuleshov effect. Scarlett is driving around Scotland and passing and talking to real strangers who don’t know they’re being filmed, (fantastic rigging of the van). Scarlett can’t be 100% in character in those situations, but doesn’t need to be. We know who she is so every interaction and smile she gives comes off as sinister, until the second act. The trivial things she sees in themselves mean nothing, but because they’re seen by “her” these people and places mean so much, frightening and beautiful.

And I LOVE the music!!! One song I have on my iPod, it’s called “Love”. Very appropriately titled. The theme plays all the correct romantic notes, but it’s all a fake electronic noise. Just like the alien who begins to feel for the meat bags, and even realizing that her body is to inspire and create love. But not under the skin she’s in. Just like the music she’s a mechanic understanding of love but not conducted with the right instruments for it. A haunting and sad tale of humanity seen from an outsider. #cinephile #cinema #movie #movies #film #cinephilecommunity #moviecollection #bluray #bluraycollection #undertheskin #scarlettjohansson #scifi #horror #horrormovie

I actually really enjoyed this. Alicia Vickander is a total badass. When she jumps from the plane or when she’s taking down the bad guys with her bow and arrow or using her amazing life-saving skills that she somehow picked up...I’m like, I wanna do that. Too bad I’m not athletic. *sigh*
Anyway, fun movie!!
