Some really great words from one of tonight's audience members. We're not just looking for people to jerk us off, so honest, well-thought insights into what we do are always appreciated. Thanks Jack!

You guys should have heard me in the shower this morning, pretending I was Eponine. Incredible show last night in Chicago! @misspheeny You were amazing and sounded far better than my bathroom-solo. #lesmiserables #onmyown #chicagotheatre
We rehearse in a great space in Ravenswood while the designers and technicians are working like mad to make our collective dreams come true. The first image was taken the day before actors were supposed to be in the theater. I had a mild heart attack when I saw it like this but knew our TD Joe Schermoley would pull it off. Image 2 is a close up of my dream set designed by @neworld26 with props/furniture by @jessicamondres Image 3 is of tech where we got to introduce the astounding costumes by @mieka.vanderploeg and lights by Chris Binder and sound by Stephen Ptacek. All coordinated by the masterful @willettellen and run with charm by Stage Manager Tess Golden #dreamteam #chicagotheatre #rbskinofourteeth
From “Thornton Wilder: A Life” by Penelope Niven, I found evidence of my take/attack/lens on the play- that Wilder was attempting to write a play about women and all of our archetypes (crone, mistress, wife, mother, ingenue, etc.). This is one quote of many that I found fascinating. #rbskinofourteeth @krissyvandy Instagram takeover! #chicagotheatre #remybumppo
As a director, so much of my prep work is done in a spreadsheet! I map out the exits and entrances to get a sense of the movement of the play. I make notes to myself and the design team about elements I might not have an answer to or need their brains to help me figure out. I mark down the images that first come to me when I read the play - like pink carpet, marching band, and bead curtain. (This is @krissyvandy in my mini-insta takeover!!!) come check out which ideas made it into the play...hint: most of them🤣

Theatre Throwback Thursday to last night and seeing the incredible “A View From The Bridge!” Thanks to my theatre soul mate @strikeitridge , I got a chance to check out the Tony-winning reboot of Arthur Miller’s classic made it’s way to the iconic Goodman Theatre, and it definitely lived up to the hype (the current artistic director of The Goodman is the creative genius/director behind the acclaimed 1998 staging of “Death Of A Salesman” with Brian Dennehy that made it’s way to Broadway and won every Tony imaginable, so you know, it wasn’t too shabby). Being a huge fan of Miller’s work (“The Crucible” and “All My Sons” are some of my all-time favorite pieces), I was a little skeptical at first about how this play was going to be treated, especially with the extreme minimalism of the set ... but by the end, I was a believer and absolutely shocked at this innovative, incredibly daring envisioning of the story of Brooklyn longshoreman Eddie Carbone and his complicated relationship with his 18-year-old niece Katie and family. “A View From The Bridge” is one that can’t be missed, please go give it a whirl if you have the opportunity. And shout-out to @goodmantheatre (the first theatre I ever set foot in and got me hooked on stage drama when I saw “A Christmas Carol” at age 8) another yet incredible night of impeccable art ... Goodman truly is the creme de la creme and I can’t wait to be back supporting all you do very soon! #TBT #ThrowbackThursday #TheatreThrowbackThursday #PaigeEightTheatreThrowbackThursday #TheatreThrowback #PaigeEightTheatreThrowback #GoodmanTheatre #TheGoodman #ArthurMiller #AViewFromTheBridge #BroadwayBlog #BroadwayBlogging #PaigeEightBroadwayBlog #PaigeEightBroadwayBlogging #PaigeEightBlog #PaigeEightBrand #PaigeEight #ChicagoTheatre #ChicagoTheatreDistrict
