Spending our last day in Valladolid at Cenote Zaci. So bizarre how this cenote sits right in the centre of the bustling town. Tomorrow we move on to Isla Holbox ✌🏽#Mexico #valladolid #yucatan #cenote #cenotezaci #travel #travelcouple #travelling #traveling #wanderlust #backpacking #budgettravel #instatravel #RTW #lowbudgettravel

Did you know there are more than 6000 cenotes in the Yucatan Peninsula?
And sometimes, Mayans would use them for sacrificial offerings 😱

The amazing Cenote Zaci. To be honest, I didn't expect much from this Cenote, but so glad I went in. It was so much fun! Lots of fish, plus places to jump from!

Är i Valladolid nu och har badat i en Cenote som finns belägen ett stenkast från mitt hostel.

Some of the most unusual natural wonders of Yucatán are the “cenotes”, or sinkholes created where a cave ceiling has collapsed. Cenotes were the only source of water in the jungle for the Mayan civilization and are considered sacred by the Mayan people. The Mayan considered cenotes to be an entrance to their "underworld" or "Xibalba" where their gods live and their spirits reside after death. #cenote #cenotezaci #valladolid #mexico
