Enjoying some ☕️and making my list for the grocery store. Sunday’s are my ME day and preparing for the upcoming week. Tacos, chicken, pork chops, and steak are on my list this week. What’s on your meal plans for the week?

Major #NSV action happening over here today. I might prance around in short shorts at home, but I’ve never left the house in them, and definitely not to something where I’m bouncing all around like a bowl of jello. Today, I totally did though, and it was such a weird feeling. My legs are a very stubborn area. Growing up girls used to yell Thunder Thighs at me and I’d cry all the way home. In that era of time the long stretches out limbs were in, and my short little stumps were out. While the culture has shifted to be more inclusive of my #thickthighed sisters, it’s still more of a sexual approval than an acknowledged of strength or power which is not so good. Mine are still a bowl of jello, but they’re *my* bowl of jello. Also, after a lifetime of hating all things cardio, ESPECIALLY running, I completed week 1 Day 1 of #C25K and I’m committed to completing it! I love how many new things I am learning to do as I get healthier, life seems so much richer. #running #weightlosstransformation #weightlossjourney #weightlossmotivation #fitness #fitnessmotivation #fitnesstransformation #fattofit #fattofitjourney #learningtorun #sweatingforthewedding #buffbride #getlean2018 #bodypositive #keto #fatadaptedathlete #fatadapted #kcko #ketogains #ketorunner

Woo! Thought I wasn't going to do day #week1day2 of my #couchto5k today because I was super sore from yesterday but I realized I am gonna be super busy at work this week and figured I better knock it out while I had the time. It's 66 degrees outside right now. That's 50 degrees warmer than it was on Tuesday 😶 I went ahead and took the over-the-counter asthma pill before I ran and it seemed to help a lot. Only have one more run this week. Gonna try to check out our city's new rec center and maybe try out a class or two if I'm not too busy! .
What goals are you setting this week?

It’s blurry, but this was the end of Week 5 #C25K. My first straight run of twenty minutes (plus a power walk warm up and cool down). I’m getting there.

Mapped out my race wishlist for 2018. I have a check mark next to the ones I have registered for already. So excited about the 4 mile brunch run the day after my birthday. It's my bday 🎁 to myself. 🤣 Today I ran 4 miles in the time it used to take me to jog 3 when I first started my #c25k journey in June. In early September, I remember hearing up for my first 5k race and thinking I probably couldn't fully run 3 miles. Now my daily runs are 4 miles... next week I'm shooting for 5! #couchto5k really made me a runner. I never thought I would love running or that it would be my alone time, prayer time, worship time, & all things good. 😁 I haven't been able to have my #infusion treatment for over 6 weeks, but God is walking with me and helping me fight Chrons through whole eating and running. I'm grateful.

It might be gray and gloomy but it's 55 degrees out. Tshirt and running capris. Going for a jog by my favorite spot. #biggirlscan #heresto2018 #c25k #startingover #withspringweathercomesinstantmotivation
Do you like my agility ladder?
If we have a specific passion, we tend to just want to do that activity. For me, it’s running and I would like to trail run all the time if I could. Obviously I need recovery time, plus, working and looking after a family means my own time for exercise is limited. This makes me want to just run at any opportunity and not ‘waste time’ on other activities 🙊. However, if we are to prevent overuse injuries then we need to mix it up and do training that will complement our chosen activity. I’m suffering at the minute with tendonitis (yes yes my own fault...🙊...) so I am out of running action at the minute. This has refocused me and forced me to embrace cross training. And do you know what? I quite like it 😂👍🏼 What’s your exercise activity of choice?

Week 3 Day 1 of the #c25k is done ✔ and we have a non scale victory - I ran 3mins without stopping, TWICE! This is huge considering I have only ever run about 90 seconds comfortably before 🔥looking forward to upping the ante a bit on Wednesday by going up a level on the treadmill when I run... wish me well 😛 #nonscalevictory #couchto5k

How I learnt to run
______________
#howilearnttorun Part 14

Recent history now!!! You know this chapter well. I feel like I should stop talking about it now. It's really time to run a new race. This is a repost.

October 2017 .
All week in the run up to the marathon I had only one thought... I hadn't done enough training. It was my one and only thought and I had it every waking minute. Why hadn't I run more miles? Why hadn't I added more runs? How is this taper helping me? Surely I'm just losing fitness? It plagued me. Why hadn't I done more!

Then the dreams started. I turned up late and missed the start. I got there and I'd left my hydration pack at home. The race had started and I had to catch the tail car just to enter.

My last couple of runs were shocking. The awful failed half marathon in Burnham. I couldn't even get through 5k in the last week without walking. Funny pains in my knee.

My friends simply reassured me that this was all perfectly normal and that I would be fine. Trust the training, you've managed 95% of all runs, that's more than most people. You're ready. They had faith, I did not.

All week I was nervous. All week I panicked. This made me prepare. I drank my water, hydrated my body, fixed my meals, ate my carbs, packed and re-packed my bag. Thought about the race strategy.

On the Saturday night a strange calm came over me. I knew that to do this I had to believe I could, it would be the only way. So slowly, one by one I said goodbye to the negative thoughts and let a strength settle over me. I could do this. I could do this....! I was going to run this marathon.

On race day I remembered the rules... stick to what you know. Same breakfast, same routine, same prep. Just another long run. I said it to myself over and over again. You've done this before. You will do this again.

On that start line I had a little smile to myself. I said my thanks that I had got there and remembered that all important quote... the rest is just numbers.

All my love to @martha_runs and @run_daryl_run for their support on this day (it's all the time, not just this day) best friends a girl could have!
