"Come on back and we’ll see if you remember the simplest thing of all – how it is to be children, secure in belief and thus afraid of the dark"🎈

What was your childhood fear? I was convinced there were monsters living in the guest room at my grandparents' house. Thankfully my Baba had monster spray (i later found out it was Fabreeze) to get rid of the monsters. 😂 Also shoutout to my brother who made me the paper boat replica. Fun fact: i used it for my Georgie Halloween costume this year! (It should have won the costume contest tbh)

"ARE YOU LISTENING, GLENDOWER? I AM COMING TO FIND YOU!" /and i wish i would find him too...
but then it wouldn't be a mystery anymore... it would kill it...
so... ¿maybe i wish i wouldn't?

Guys, I am bawlin’. I am bawlin’ like a useless little baby because I just finished IF WERE VILLAINS and it... *hurt* me. 😭💔 Hurt me so damn good, it’s my favorite book I’ve read that was published in 2017 so far. I feel guilty that I put it off for so long, after initially picking it up when the NYT Book Review included it in a roundup of summer thrillers. I really wouldn’t define it as a thriller, even though someone dies and another someone goes to jail. The joy (or tragedy) of reading it comes not from the desire to unravel the details of the crime, but from the beauty of Rio’s prose (STUNNING) and the depth of her young cast’s emotions. It’s a love story, and a brutal one—and had someone sold it to me as such, I wouldn’t have dragged my heels on starting it. I had been worried I wouldn’t be able to connect with a story centered on a private conservatory so exclusive it’s senior class of theater students numbers just seven. Each of those seven is obsessed with Shakespeare, quoting him in conversation to each other like a second language that helps them understand themselves and the world. I thought it might be pretentious or annoying, but it was quite beautiful and reminded me of the relationship some people must have to the Bible. I loved every one of those tragic, misguided seven, making this a rare, breathtaking book that I never wanted to end.
Scaring your loved ones is our favorite holiday tradition. ☠️🔪⚰️

“Significant wars are often fought in unlikely places. Free Market Capitalism defeated Soviet Communism in the bleak mountains of Afghanistan. Here in the forests of Dantewada, a battle rages for the soul of India. Plenty has been said about the deepening crisis in Indian democracy and the collusion between big corporations, major political parties and the security establishment. If anybody wants to do a quick spot check, Dantewada is the place to go.”

How do you defend the indefensible? How do you justify the unjustifiable? Can you ever account for the atrocities committed by one side on another just to satisfy their ideological beliefs? .

In this brilliantly written article from Outlook which was later published as a small book gives an first person account of the author traveling through the jungles of Dandakaranya. This article, however biased, raises some very important questions. .

Indian government once said that Naxalism is the biggest internal security threat and the government is right in its own way. Anyone who raises arms against a sovereign nation is declared an enemy of the state and the state has full right to do so. But what happens to the people the sovereign nation is supposed to serve in the first place? Roy draws a very far fetched parallel between Naxalism and Narmada Bachao andolan wherein the latter was passive resistance against the suppressing state for building the Sardar Sarovar dam and the former is an armed rebellion against the state machinery aimed at what she calls ‘gram swaraj’.
Ideally, this is what Gandhi had envisioned in pre-independence era. The problem that remains in this ideal scenario is of power struggle. Roy cunningly justifies how there is no women rights issues in tribal culture, how every one equally strives for food and shares it equally. What she skips is the hierarchy in the command line itself. She complains of tribals suffering from infections and malnutrition and Kwashiorkor and TB but is against the state machinery which however corrupt would at least build a hospital there. It’s an extremely complicated issue which has been dealt in a very cunning way to portray a one sided picture.
All the booooooks. 😍 This is just a little sliver of Shakespeare and Co Bookstore in Paris. Its rambling rooms and narrow alleys are piled high with books of every kind. Have you been? What's your favorite bookstore?

Frage: Mit welchen Charakter würdest du am liebsten Weihnachten feiern?

Antwort: Definitiv Simon😍

Hey everyone!
Just a quick post today for the @fairyloot #fairyphoto8 challenge where the final prompt was to take a photo of "The Last Namsara" by @kristenciccarelli in or in front of a bookstore.

I chose my not so local @hugendubel_buchhandlungen 😊
Whenever I miss the train on my way home I spend my time here and usually also buy some books. 😂💞

Dobry wieczór 🌙
.
.
.

2 months in a row it's been early! And the book was one I had pre-ordered because I was so excited for it, and wasn't coming out until the New Year, but we got it before its initial release! #fairyloot #decemberbox #ohsoregal #fairyloot123088 #fairylootunboxing #bookishcandle #princeeric #funkopop #simba #booksrule #keyring #pouch #shakespearequote #virtuousandfairroyalandgracious #notebook #everless #saraholland #beforereleasedate #books #booknerd #bookworm #bibliophile
