For dumbbell snatches, keep the weight close to your body and explosively jump to initiate the lift.
.

For the bench press make sure you don’t use an Olympic lifting barbell, where the weights are spinning on the bar.
.
- Bench press 4x1 @ 85% + 40 lbs.
- Weighted crunches 1x50.
.

Jayden doing his sprints he does 3 sets of 30 seconds right now and getting ready to bump to the next set. He also has 44/16 setup on bike which is a pretty heavy roll out. He's almost first in the the first corner every race now just getting him some gas in the off season. #teamjayden #bmxtraining #bmxnation #bmxlife #bmxracing #usabmx #racing

Not a massive manual by any stretch but it’s taking some time to get used to manualing the cruiser ! Ran out of room on this one! At least I can get my front wheel over stuff which I could have done with on my first cruiser race , onward and upward 💪🏼 #bmx #bmxtraining #gtbikes #gtfactoryuk #cruiser

Another good leg workout yesterday. Pyramid set of alternating speed squats & deadlifts. Moderate weight on both of these, went up to 325lbs on squats & up to 385lbs on deadlifts. Focused on moving the weight as quick as possible.

SPARK WEEKLY BMX TRAINING TIP - Importance Of The Details
-
The body is a super complex organism. Just when we think we have a good understanding of how things work, someone or something will change the way you think (hopefully anyways).
-
Human performance is a great example of complexity. There are many factors that go into improved performance. Strength is one of those factors but definitely not the only factor. I urge you to look at this post and consider how the way you train could be made more efficient.
-
Vertical jump testing is just one of the things I like to look at with my athletes. Don’t get so wrapped up in just the max jump height. If you look at the details closely you can see improvements in performance by the amount of time it takes an athlete to express power. A 20” jump that takes 0.8 seconds compared to 0.6 to happen is a big difference.
-
Point is, don’t just chase the big numbers. A bigger Squat might actually not help you at all if it takes way more time to complete. Look into becoming more efficient as well as gaining strength. Some people might look at the results of 3 months of training and be disappointed by a similar vertical jump height and quit training. But if you look at the details you can see that you are making big strides. One funny thing that I forgot to mention is that the athlete in the video wears the same exact clothes to the gym 3 months apart haha.
