@thedust_ofthe_earth 'From the Dust of the Earth' is a black owned business created by a health conscious, naturalista. The essentials body care range include only 100% organic ingredients, and all products have proven to be of great affect. As we gear up for #Dreamcatchers18, this week we are highlighting #blackexcellence in #STEAMeducation.

Simmie Knox

In 2004, Knox became the first black artist to unveil and create official U.S. portraits of President Bill Clinton and first lady Hillary Clinton at the White House.

Marie M. Daly

Marie M. Daly was the first African American woman to obtain a Ph.D. in chemistry in the United States. After receiving her degree, Daly taught and conducted groundbreaking research that helped clarify how the human body works.

Guion S. Bluford

Guion S. Bluford graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering. After spending several years with the Air Force, Bluford was one of 35 applicants chosen from a pool of 10,000-plus applications to join NASA in 1979. Bluford completed three more NASA missions, compiling 688 hours in space and becoming the first African American to travel into space in 1983.

Mary Mahoney

Mary Mahoney was the first black woman to complete the nursing program in 1879. She also helped start the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses. In 1920, Mahoney was one of the first women to register to vote in Boston following the ratification of the 19th Amendment.

Katherine G. Johnson

Excelling with only limited educational opportunities, Katherine G. Johnson was a natural math prodigy. Early in her career, she worked as a "computer" and eventually transitioned to NASA after the organization was formed in 1958. While at NASA, she performed the high-level, complex calculations that helped enable space travel and the moon landing in 1969. In 2015, Johnson was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

Mae C. Jemison

Mae C. Jemison holds the dual distinction of being a physician and an American astronaut. In 1987, Jemison became the first African American woman to be admitted into NASA’s astronaut training program. Five years later, she finally ventured into space with six fellow astronauts aboard space shuttle Endeavour.

20/28: How to Find A Fox by Nilah Magruder is a great little story about not giving up. 👧🏾🦊 Our little girl protagonist (who has fabulous hair) learns a lesson in patience and perseverance as she seeks out her elusive fox friend. The illustrations in this one are so expressive and cheerful and if you’ve got an outdoorsy kiddo, it may be the gateway to a treasure hunt of your own!Shout out to my friend @myheartshomestead and her kids who actually caught and released a fox last week because it was trying to eat their chickens! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Y’all don’t need this book, but I bet you’ll enjoy it. ☺️

Two things about me... Fact #1 I always stand by my people. Yes I do believe all lives matter (#ALLLIVESMATTER). Fact of the matter is though black lives are suffering. So right now I'm talking about black lives matter (#BLACKLIVESMATTER). I love my EVERYONE EQUALLY regardless. Fact #2 I didn't show up to Black Panther ONLY, because it's a "black" movie. I am a #Marvel FAN!! I am a comic book fan. I go see EVERY single Marvel and DC movie though Marvel movies have been better lol (sorry DC fans) 😅. Granted I was excited to see a movie full of amazing black excellence, and knowledge. This man said "Burry me in the ocean with my ancestors that jumped from the ships, because even they knew death was better than bondage"

Sometimes we may be enduring a quiet storm with our circumstances, and quite possibly you feel a change is coming your way. Card 9, THE HERMIT, of the up and coming Afro Goddess Tarot Arcanas (fall 2018) is a quiet search for the truth...within yourself. The Hermit uses isolation and knowledge to ultimately reach higher levels of awareness at all costs. This may be a time where you desire to leave the turbulence behind and pursue a new life direction. Your energy is precious. Take the time to withdraw, search within, and embrace the ending of a cycle to make way for the beginnings of a new one.✨Thanks for joining me as we journey thru melanated tarot! Up next, The Wheel of Fortune...
Card artwork available now. Learn more about this card and the others preceeding it, and how you can support it's creation at the link in the bio....HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
