Because of a mother’s sacrificial love, I get to be a mother. 💖

Before we went through the adoption process, I will admit that I didn’t have a positive image of birth mothers; the image I had in my head was something like you’d see in a crazy, dramatic Lifetime movie. When I listened to other people’s stories about birth moms, heard a birth mom speak, and ultimately met Lincoln’s birth mom, my thoughts on birth moms changed drastically. I realized then the huge sacrifice that birth moms make. You see, these women didn’t have to choose life for their babies. Society pushes them to “terminate the inconvenience.” They didn’t have to endure nine months being pregnant with a child they know they aren’t going to actively parent. What makes them choose to do this? Love. That’s the only way I can explain what these women do: they love their children with a sacrificial love that makes the pain and heartache worth it in the end. They want to see their babies thriving with adoptive parents who love them. I’m sure some people have had different experiences with birth moms (especially when it comes to addiction and parental rights being terminated) but I can sincerely say that I fiercely love Lincoln’s birth mom, and I’m so thankful she chose us. 💕

There are so many different seasons of life—seasons of loss and seasons of joy! In the seasons of loss, we have to remember all that God did in the previous season of joy. Likewise when walking through the joyous seasons we have to remember the seasons of loss because the taste of loss makes the joy that much sweeter! So no matter which season you find yourself in today know that He is FOR US—there is purpose in the loss and there is purpose in the joy! #abidinglove #abidingloveadoptions #openadoption #neveraloneneverforgottenalwaysloved #wearechangingtheadoptionworld #birthmom #birthmother #birthmamalove #birthmomstrong #birthmomstrong #adopt #adoption #adoptionislove #adoptionagency #placed #domesticadoption #billygraham #arepeoplestillreadingmyhashtags

nine years ago this light of sparkling unicorns
with a side of mouse
entered the world
on a cold and rainy seattle day
when she took her first breath
to experience her first moments here
I was miles away
completely unaware she existed
nine years ago when this heart on her sleeve
confident rebel came to be
her young and most likely terrified belly mother
comforted her
held her
loved her
as only a mother can
today is always a mix of ordinary celebration
to mark anther year passed
and a mix of a surreal reality
of what life slammed her into at her tiny first cry
I love you buckets
I am humbled by your strength to still be such a joyful, empathetic and hilarious babe
and I love your belly mommy
for sacrificing in such a heart demolishing way
to give us a family
we cherish forevermore
happy birthday miss honey mustard
you know the dance moves

For four years he’s been watching me workout from home.
For three years he’s watched me build a business from home.
Today during my 40 minutes “sick day” sweat sesh, I hear a tiny voice say...
“Momma, we are so strong!”
💕Today I was gently reminded of my Why.💕 My children have always been my reason. Never my excuse.
You’ve got this momma!

#AlmostThatTimeAgain . The closer it gets to his birthday the more anxious I feel to get it over with. “Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.” . #BirthMother #AdoptionIsLove

I found myself sad during the Christmas holiday, all while I was enjoying our first winter in Utah. It was a conflict of emotions & happy distractions. We shared of our #miscarriage loss in our holiday letter & had a quiet New Year’s at home. By the time Feb 2016 came around, I enrolled Landon in #karate and it was a new found focus. My monthly cycle also returned that month & a visit to my OB reassured us to not stop trying. So...we didn’t stop, knowing that anything was possible. Easter arrived in early April and we already had a secret! Can you see my beaming smile?! We had been approached by a friend about an expecting mother who was looking for a great, Christian family for her #baby. By the time my son’s 5th birthday arrived at the end of April, we had met the #birthmother and found ourselves jumping into everything #adoption! It was an overwhelming, exciting time. My husband & I felt that if this was what our #infertility journey was to lead up to, then we were jumping two feet in. And we had no idea of the waves of emotion that were about to begin as well... #FindingBabyDurham #OurSecondaryInfertilityJourney

Adoption Forums, A Birth Mother’s Journey. An emotional roller coaster ride trying to make sense of knowing who and where my First Daughter is and trying to have patience. This is a very sensitive topic for me, when I was originally blogging about this I was going by the name InBlindFaith and the blog was anonymous. Thanks to the incredible support I have, my blog is kicking off with my journey as a Birth Mother who lost their First Daughter to a closed adoption. Link in bio to the blog…

What's it like being married to an adoptee? This doesn’t happen often, but occasionally I feel really nervous when I’m pressing publish on an episode of the show. This is one of those times!
I interview my husband Nick and he shares quite candidly about what it was like for him to walk through reunion with me TWICE! We also talk about what’s been the most helpful in building our relationship as we navigate adoptee triggers and coming out of the fog together.
You can listen in any podcast catcher, just search “Adoptees On”. Available on Apple Podcasts, iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Google Play, Stitcher, iHeart Radio and more!

Making an adoption plan for your baby is such a loving choice, but that doesn't mean it's not a hard one to make. It's important to get as much info as you can so that you make a loving, intelligent, and fully-informed decision for your baby. You can call Lifetime anytime to speak with an adoption professional to talk about your options. #lifetimeadoption #love #birthmother #unconditionallove #adoptionplan #adoptionrocks #choosingadoption
