Sonntagsbraten beim Junikind: grün-weiße Gemüsemischung (Porree, Fenchel und Kohlrabi), Basmati-Reis als Vollkorn-Variante und Lammfilet in hauchzarte Streifen geschnitten. Dem Junikind hat es vorzüglich gemundet. Die kleinen Fleisch-Schnipsel lassen sich inzwischen prima kauen, auch wenn hier immer noch einige Zähne vermisst werden. Das würzige Gemüse passt sehr gut zum etwa intensiveren Lamm.
Sunday roast for the little one: green and white vegetable mix (leek, fennel, and kohlrabi), basmati rice as a whole grain variant and lamb fillet cut into teeny weeny strips. The toddler liked it enormously. The small pieces of meat can now be chewed even though we are still missing some teeth. The spicy vegetables go very well with the more intensive lamb.

Sok od jabuke i borovnice. Jednu jabuku izrendate na sitno rende i procedite kroz gazu. Kašiku borovnica stavite u cediljku za čaj i cedite tako što kašikom pritiskate bobice. Oba soka pomešate i dodate jedno trećinu vode da malo razblažite. A i ne morate. Ja još uvek razblažujem.
Dobila sam oko 90ml soka.

Gosh raising a little #foodlover has been a PROCESS!! Just looking back at all of my pics I have of my LO and alllllll the foods we tried... Man, it was WORK but WORTH IT!! I am #happy to say that my 2 (almost 3yo cue the tears 😭) seriously eats anything.

Cabbage? ✔️
Broccoli? ✔️
Green beans? ✔️
Cauliflower ✔️
Peas ✔️
Carrots ✔️
Asparagus ✔️
Weird, green things I don't even know what they are (for better or for worse...)? ✔️ He even called a #fastfood 🍔 YUCKY yesterday, refused to eat (refusal I'm okay with), came home & ate turkey & vegetables with Grandma.
How did I do it? I know a big plus I have going for me is no #family history of #selectiveeatingdisorder or #pickyeaters on either side. But there was a WHOLE lot more I did too! Not just genetics & luck!

Cannot believe I have never posted a roast dinner on here considering we have one pretty much every week! It was pork belly day today. Roasties, Brussels, broccoli, peas and roasted carrots. Daddy cooked this. Our baby girl absolutely loves eating with us around the table ❤️Always left overs so they have been portioned up into mini meals and frozen for when we need them.
Tomorrow is a HUGE day for us...E starts settling in sessions at nursery and I go back to work in 2 weeks 😱 Wish us luck! ///////

Lunch was pasta shells filled with bolognese and sprinkled with parmesan, carrots and cucumber. Amazingly for a child that doesn't love meat Ruby seemed to eat more of the bolognese than the pasta!

Ruby recently discovered lemon after we were eating in a seafood restaurant and she decided to have a good suck on the lemon wedge, so I thought I'd try her with some grapefruit tonight for dessert. She definitely liked the look of it but not so much the taste so had half a persimmon instead 😂

Paella night! One of my faves but something I've not made for a while as Ruby doesn't seem to think much of rice 😠. This actually went down pretty well, she ate all the seafood and had a go at the chicken and chorizo but clearly wasn't impressed. She also had a side of avocado and some leftover sweet potato (plus extra sweet potato!) and some banana for dessert.

I've been a bit quiet today as I have been so busy with house related things, making the most of having hubby home. Apparently I'm a walking sales pitch at the moment trying to get him to agree to different things, my sales skills must be strong as we are organising shutters for the bay windows and getting quotes to sort out the kitchen (extend units, change worktops and doors) to potentially the kitchen photographed but with white quartz worktops not marble, whilst this all sounds extravagant we knew to be happy here we would have to make changes. We ended up loosing over 4 period houses we loved and although I think this house is perfect for us we really want to give it that character that we adore. Are the neighbours going to call me the lady with the blue living room or the lady with the green kitchen? 🙈 In other news Annabelle ate three helpings of spaghetti Bolognese for dinner so I'm a very happy mummy 🍴

Broccoli ‘Ratatouille’ over Cous Cous

First, I covered the cous cous with just boiled water, and set it aside with the saucepan lid on. While that fluffed up, I put some broccoli on to boil. When ready, I drained and added some chopped, tinned tomatoes. I heated it through and served it over the cous cous.

7 months old (day 239): ok, so Otto doesn’t look particularly happy in the pictures. 😒 What a grimace! Nonetheless, he ate a very large portion! He always loves anything tomato-based. And this time, he found the cous cous much easier to eat than the last time we tried it. He now has two little bottom teeth! So cute, but sharp 🤭 He bit my finger and almost broke the skin. Ouchhh 😵

Red Lentils, Scrambled Egg & Puréed Courgette

The lentils were covered with cold water and brought to the boil, then simmered over a lower heat for about 20 mins until the lentils were cooked. The courgettes were cut and steamed, then puréed. The egg was simply scrambled with no butter or oil in a non-stick pan.

7 months old (day 239): this was a bit of a random mix of leftovers - along with a scrambled egg for some protein, but it went down surprisingly well! Otto is definitely starting to make up for his lack of appetite over Christmas. I’ve also noticed he’s got slightly squidgier on his legs. So cute!

S U N D A Y B R U N C H!
The sun’s out, and we’re heading out on the boys’ first bike ride! But first, brunch.

Grown ups had sweet potato hash with mushrooms and spring onion + eggs and bacon.

Babies had some of the hash (I picked the big bits of mushroom out), turnip & corn purée and mushed up raspberries.

To make the 🍠 hash, just peel and grate a big sweet pot, melt some coconut oil in a shallow pan and fry up with spring onions/mushrooms/whatever you have in the fridge. I usually season with salt and pepper but didn’t this time because the boys were eating it too.

They both really liked this meal, despite the weird texture. 👏🏼 Do you have any favourite grown up/baby combo meals?

My little one loved this meal. Some chickpeas with cumin. Steam them together and throw the water to remove as much of the gas-producing-effect as possible. Add some full fat yogurt and blend. I usually add some toasted pine nuts but I didn't have at home, so if you have some toast them on the side with little oil or butter and add them before blending. It is recommended to introduce the high allergic foods within the first year of life to actually lower the risk of them getting any allergies. I have introduced till now some pine nuts, walnuts, cashews and almonds. If you have people with nut allergy in the family, it is actually encouraged to introduce it to your little one. But you can add just 1 nut for the whole meal and monitor closely. Then after a week or two add 2 more nuts and monitor. But don't avoid them completely.
