Today I had the chance to speak at the first annual Ethical Leaders Awards @thielcollege and I got to visit with one of the winners, Camille Redford. I continue to be inspired by people who choose to work for the good of others. These are the people who continue to reflect the legacy of Dr King.

New trailer arrived from Sturgis, Michigan this morning...just in time to load up and head east toward Philadelphia tomorrow. We can now haul three full exhibits at once for installations across the country.

a little pinkie love on this gloomy day. we started collecting pinkie and blue boys years ago. we have found them everywhere from Naples, Florida to Montreal to Montana. but I love where they came from. back in the day you use to get points for grocery shopping. when those added up you could buy art. it was a way to get art to the average/poor americans. they come in all shapes and sizes and frames as well as paint by numbers and porcelain pieces. we love a good story and this was definitely a good one!!

“I learned that beauty came from the inside, not from the outside.

When something tragic happens to you, when that lightning strikes, it makes you vulnerable. When you have that vulnerability, your eyes open up to others who have vulnerability. You can see it.
Through this whole experience of pain and healing, I’ve learned to listen to people. I’ve learned to accept people for their conditions. I learned that every day is a gift. Every day, I’m grateful to be here." -Benita Alioth moved back to her childhood home just before Christmas 2007 to care for her aging mother. On October 22, 2008, she woke to her mother’s call for help. The house was on fire. When Benita tried to pick up her mom, they both fell to the floor and were engulfed in flames. She wasn’t able to save her mother. Benita was in a coma for 12 weeks with second and third degree burns over 48 percent of her body.

A frigid day is the perfect reason to layer up, hunker down, and dig into a book about a demographic of people I know NOTHING about. Been wanting to read this for awhile! And yes, that’s my dog on my lap because he’s the best heater out there. #themoreyouknow

"It’s amazing what human beings are able to do when we get together and put a plan into action. We create something that is life changing and life saving. Much like a branch that’s able to sprout several leaves and twigs, we’re able to improve society by just impacting one person who, in turn, impacts someone else, and it continues on and on.

Find one way every day you can improve the life of somebody around you. Do something nice for somebody once a day, every single day. That is the best wisdom I can impart." -Brett Menzie had a history of kidney trouble in his family. His
grandmother was on dialysis. His middle son suffered in utero from a
kidney malfunction known as hydronephrosis, which required surgery when he was born. While Brett was not a medical match for either of his family members, he joined a national donor registry and gave one of his kidneys to a total stranger just before Christmas 2007.
