A band of rain showers, some heavy, slowly drift over the city today. Out of luck, the heaviest cell had drifted right over my area! I miss this weather! I headed straight to work after enjoying the rainy weather a bit. Pics taken from around San Jose, CA. (Friday early afternoon, November 10, 2017)
Weather update/forecast:
California had experienced its first taste of rain this season. The rainy season is in full swing across the Pacific Northwest along with parts of NorCal as several storms have brought much-needed rainfall so far this season. The wet season for California usually lasts from November to March, so we still have several months to go but so far, we are off to a decent start, particularly for Oregon & Washington. California is (still) a different story. Granted we are only just beginning, California could use some more rain & snow and thankfully, another bigger storm that was in the forecast might bring just that with this storm bringing the first heavy dose of mountain snow so far this season…
An active jet stream was to keep the Pacific Northwest and Northern California under cloudy/rainy skies over the next week or so. Heavy rain, strong winds & mountain snow were all in the cards as system after system takes aim at the region. Taking a look at the longer range, very similar conditions were forecast across the region, as the deep trough of low pressure hugging the West Coast doesn’t look to be going anywhere any time soon. While breaks can be expected, an overall wet pattern seems poised to continue as we head toward Thanksgiving. Continue to monitor the weather at how the wet pattern might impact the holiday travel plans…
