happy thanksgiving!! i cooked and baked from scratch for tired. i couldn't take pics of all of them, but first one is the appetizer plate for 2: pickled veggies, potato salad w tuna, and garlic shrimp which is one of my husband's favorites. we don't like turkey much, so we do chicken for holidays. this big bird was marinated for 3 days in my fridge. gosh, that was too my near future, i love to have a walk-in-refrigerator🤣

A lot of people get anxiety around food during the holidays. You want to be healthy and stick to your plans but want to have fun, partake, and there’s social pressures and travel to deal with too. It’s a lot. I definitely used to feel this anxiety and here are a few tips for you on how to beat it and enjoy yourself!
• There are 114 meals between Thanksgiving and New meals represent less than 5% of that. Don’t stress if you have a big meal, just get back on track.
• Have some of the fun holiday food at the table but also have some healthier and nutritionally dense options- whole grains, vegetables and salads.
• Lighten up some dishes by using half the oil and butter and cream, using broth for moisture and flavor instead; use whole grains in your stuffing and pie crusts; cut the sugar in recipes in half; and add veggies where you can (broccoli in mashed potatoes is awesome, see the recipe from @malibufarm ).
• On holiday days do not forget to eat! Don’t starve yourself all day waiting for that Thanksgiving dinner. Eat light but normal meals full of nutrition. I had what you see above today before meals with the fam: spinach, pea shoots, Japanese sweet potato, snap peas, macadamia nuts, and @drake_family_farms goat cheese. • Make activity part of your family traditions and time together- go for a walk, play games together, do a turkey trot. My mother-in-law and I are going horseback riding today!
• Last but not least focus on why we have these holidays, spending time with family and friends 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🏡

The BBQ Pork Ramen @shabuaustin was pretty good! ❤️🍜 Lots of flavor and a savory broth. I wasn’t a huge fan of the Japanese Pork Ramen (special), but it wasn’t awful just had a really mild flavor and I like my ramen savory 😬
