Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.
This excellent 18 year old single malt from Glenlivet is a classic Speyside dram, it also won two golds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Though not officially (read, legally) established until 1816, there are records that date distillation here going back to 1742. Malted barley produced just a hop, skip, and a jump away at neighboring Port Ellen is utilized. Everything is long at this distillery: fermentation, distillation, and maturation. Good things do indeed come to those that wait. Vegetarians need not be alarmed. Despite the meaty, brisket-y aroma to this whisky, cows were not harmed in its production. Peat smoke is integrated throughout the dram and that lavish mouthful of whisky that you are experiencing leads to the discovery of seaweed, fruit, and tobacco. During saturday's tasting, I had the opportunity to enjoy this Wolfburn. It is a pretty nice peated dram. On the nose, it looks pretty oily with medicinal peat and an herbaceous style like menthol and ricqles. And I also got wet wood at the end of the nose. On the palate, the attack is malty, followed by the same peat than the nose, and a peppery note at the end. The finale is medium-long on the pepper and menthol at the end. A really nice dram, not extremely peated but pretty interesting. Cheers everyone and #happythanksgiving to anyone concern ! 😎🥃
Durant la soirée dégustation de samedi, j'ai donc eu l'opportunité de goûter ce #Wolfburn. C'est un #dram tourbé très sympathique.A Au nez, je retrouve une tourbe médicinale assez grasse et herbacé avec des notes de menthol et de ricqles. On a aussi un peu d'écorce humide après quelques temps dans le verre. L'attaque en bouche est maltée, suivie par une tourbe dans la même lignée que le nez et une touche poivrée en fin de bouche. La finale est quant à elle moyenne voire longue sur le poivre et un retour du menthol pour boucler la boucle. Un dram vraiment sympa, avec une dominante tourbée mais pas extrême et très intéressante.
