Giving Thanks for Christian Friends
“We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers.” (1 Thessalonians 1:2)
We all have much to be thankful for. It is certainly appropriate to give audible thanks for our daily bread, whether in private, at a family meal, or in public at a fine restaurant. In fact, Jesus set the example. When He miraculously fed the multitude beside the Sea of Galilee, He began with a prayer of thanksgiving: “He took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them. . . . And they did all eat, and were filled” (Matthew 15:36-37). It is good to give thanks for our food and shelter and clothing, but the blessing of having Christian friends is even more thankworthy. The first letter to the Thessalonians was possibly Paul’s first Spirit-inspired letter to Christian friends, and Paul began with a testimony of thankfulness to God for them (see the text above). When Paul wrote to the Philippians, he began similarly: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3), and to the Colossians, he started the same way: “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you” (Colossians 1:3). The same when he wrote his epistle to the church at Corinth: “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 1:4). Even when writing to the Christians at Rome, whom he had not yet met personally, he wrote: “First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all” (Romans 1:8). He also thanked God for his personal friends Timothy (2 Timothy 1:3) and Philemon (v. 4). Throughout our Christian life journey, we develop lasting Christian friends and can thank God for all of them. What a blessing to have such friends, and how fitting it is to give God special thanks for them at this time. HMM

Love the LORD! Be strong because of your hope in the LORD. In other words, recognize where your strength is. Acknowledge your source of grace. Give praise to God for his abundant mercy and power lavished on us through his Holy Spirit. The LORD God does preserve his people. He does honor faithfulness even if it is mocked in this world. The LORD will bless his people and deal justly with those who mock and abuse them.

Let’s pray!

Give me strength, O LORD, for I find myself in trying times with enemies at my door and opponents on every side. Please give me wisdom to see your grace that leads me. Please give me courage to stand up for what is right, pure, and holy. Please give me vision to see the things you want to use me to do for your glory. Please keep my hope passionately alive as I wait for your work in me to be accomplished. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

The word [metanoia] means to gather one’s thoughts; in this context it means to realise God’s thoughts. Sadly the Latin word, penance (repentance) became the popular English translation of [metanoia]. This leaves us with the idea that you need to change your actions - which is the fruit. The root is to change your mind and take sides with Father, Son and Spirit about yourself! What is Their view of you? You are Their child who is unconditionally loved, highly favoured and abundantly provided for! You have been lavished with everything you need in Christ and are united in unbreakable seamless union with Father, Son and Spirit! It is this mindset of Jesus' "I am" that brings escape from the "I am-not" fallen mindset! Paul says the world system, which is of the law of karma and works, adds regret upon sorrow! Whereas the one brings such immediate relief, the other seems to be an inescapable deathtrap! They are complete opposites! You can't be of them both at the same time. So take sides with Jesus and His "I am" and experience the immediate relief He has freely given you!! 😁😁🙌🙌 #Jesus #Christ #jesuschrist #christian #bible #bibleverse #biblestudy #faith #mirrorbible #relationshipgoals #christianity #justified #God #godisgood #gospel #Trinity #GodThoughts #TakeSides #Iam #greekstudy

When we look at the vast expanse of creation, we wonder how God could be concerned for people who constantly disappoint him. Yet God created us only a little lower than himself and the angels! The next time you question your worth as a person, remember that God considers you highly valuable. We have great worth because we bear the stamp of the Creator. Because God has already declared how valuable we are to him, we can be set free from feelings of worthlessness.

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Psalms 8:4-5 KJV
