ANA B735 spotted at #FUK haven’t seen any 735 recently, but is it a 735 or 734? Anyway smaller 737s are rare sights nowadays. The foreground JAL is an Embrarer I believe. #airport #Hakata #Boeing #737 #AirportPhotography #Japan #ANA #JAL #Embraer #AviationGeek #Airliners #Airlines #TheHobby

Hey Guys! Its been a little while since we last did a Blast From the Past post but today’s suggestion has come from @pueoknowstravel!! In this case we are talking about the NAMC YS-11. The YS-11 is the only Japanese airliner to have entered production after the end of the Second World War. The aircraft was relatively successful in the domestic market in Japan, other parts of Asia and in North America. The YS-11 was designed by the Nihon Aircraft Manufacturing Company or NAMC for short. NAMC was established in June of 1959 and was part of Kawasaki, Mitsubishi and various other companies. The company set about designing a short to medium range aircraft, with particular attention being paid to the requirements set by some of the Japanese domestic airlines. NAMC went with Rolls Royce to power the aircraft. The various other companies part of the consortium such as Fuji were responsible for producing the tail section, Kawasaki wings and engine nacelles, Mitsubishi the forward fuselage and final assembly, Nippi for the ailerons and flaps and Showa for the rear fuselage and other light alloy components. The first YS-11 took off in August of 1962 and was awarded Japanese certification in 1964. By this time however the first production aircraft were already rolling off of the factory line and some were even in service with TOA now (Japan Air System) The production of the YS-11-100 was soon followed up by a larger variant the YS-11-200 and was designed to appeal to more western markets. Further variants of the YS-11 included the -300 which was a combi passenger/cargo model, a -400,500, 600 and -700 were all basically the same aircraft but with increased maximum take off weights. While the aircraft was popular amongst smaller regional airlines in parts of Asia and North America production of the YS-11 ceased in February 1974 and by 1988 only 66 YS-11’s were still in service with ANA and Japan Air commuter. #boieng #airbus #YS-11 #History #blastfromthepast #aviation #planes #photography #airliners #airliners_daily #airlinersworld #airlinersnet #pilot #plane #travel #traveltheworld #intersting #intellectual #avporn #roaring20s #airtravel #airtravelatitsbest
