at Dalaman Airport there's always someone not knowing which plane to board. or one of these fools who think there's always time for an extended look around, always - or these "hang-on-just-one-more-snapshot-goofs" (like me). someone always causes a delay. it wasn't #Turkey if things would happen in time. if it's worth the shot it's worth the delay. / #goodbyeTurkey #whileinbetween #helloBerlin

#whileinbetween #gate27/28 a bench offers a pictorial view at the mountain chain in the back for those who have time in abundance - others like me have to rush to #gate1 as flights at Dalaman Airport are strictly scheduled - even in #Turkey. well, more or less. "This is the last call for Mr. David Gnad for @SunExpress flight to Berlin Tegel, please..." - shhhht! please bare with me for a minute. i just need to take a last quick shot, guys, just this one... one klick, one shot - my shot. / #obligatoryairportshot #✈️ #Dalaman

this is old Murat. also known as 'Murat The Wise Counsellor'. whenever people seek for advice they know where to find him. right at the beach, sitting in an old chair between the two mountains facing the open sea and the sun chewing sun-dried fruits and nuts. i seeked advice, too. asking him how to make people happy again his short answer was: "David, post shots on instagram." - old man, your advice is my command. #findingwisdomatthebeach

a turkish saga tells the story of 'Mehmed, the conquerer'. a few centuries ago, this complete moron - never ever been on a ship at all - somehow got a decent ship plus crew by a big gun Sultan. being tasked to discover and conquer new territories for the 'Ottoman Rich', he set sail. two days later he bacame hopelessly homesick. in his private captain's cabin he shed more tears than the seven seas could bear. so he made up an excuse to report big gun Sultan why he came back way earlier than expected. the following story he came up with returning to his home port cost him his head by the way. but it was (considering he was a fully retarded narrow-minded dickhead) a reasonable story. he reported, that the further he departed from his beloved Turkey the sun always follwed him and knowing that the people in Turkey who were mostly farmers depend on the sun to make sure to rake in a lush harvest he returned back home believing the sun would follow him only. well, the Sultan cut his head off but the farmers honoured him with a monument. not a big one, not a one made from alloy cast iron or copper, not an impressive one, not a one located at the city center, not a one not not not not not anything but a wodden one-legged scarecrow at the end of the town with a jumper on set up by poor farmers. however, since a few centuries 'Mehmed, the conquerer' is the patron saint of all who depend on sunshine to make their living... / #UnsungTurkishHeroes #TurkishFairytales #scarecrow #davidinturkey
NOTE: 'Mehmed' is the turkish form of arabic 'Mahmud', meaning 'praiseworthy'. looks like 'Mehmed' finally got his praise.

roads in #Turkey - unless otherwise stated - take you straight to heaven. or at least somewhere near. from there goes a 'Dolmuş' (a special turkish taxi) as there's always a smart Turk smelling a good business from miles away just as sharks do blood. / #moneymakestheworldgoround #dodgystreets #DieSonneMachtFeierabend

a floating seed carried by the wind is how it all starts. unlike any other seeds - except for cactus seeds maybe - as a palm tree seed you don't depend on the benevolence of the environment at the spot where you land. you grow a tree anyways. but growing up at the beach like this lil' fella means you have two things to put up with. a few coconuts and if there's another palm tree not more than three yards around you a hammock fixed to your trunk and a piña colada sucking tourist enjoying his life. except for this tiny little nuisance you enjoy a view people rob banks for and sunshine in abundance. life couldn't be greater, that's for sure. at least as a palm tree. / #sologrowing #naturesmavericks

didn't know turkish farmers were armed to the teeth and would protect their fields that fierce!
i only intended to shoot the mountain in the background and thought the field's green contrast would perfectly match the yellow and purple sky. to avoid the rubbish right next to the street messing up my shot i took a few steps to the edge of the field. ok, i was already a few yards in the field, sitting on my haunches, focussing on my composition when i saw the first spears flying towards me! followed by a thousand more spears i was jumping from left to right to make sure this wasn't the last shot i'd ever take. finally i got of lightly with just a few scratches. i realized that somehow the scenery became quite bizarre with all those spears sticking in the field. well, time to seal the deal! i took the shot and buzzed off as fast as i could. you never know what turkish farmers come up with after spears... / #davidinturkey #ruralTurkey #turkishhomelandsecurity

in #Turkey there's obviously a well running black market for cute lil' puppy-boats. otherwise i see no plain reason why to lock a tiny boat like this using such massive chains. a rope would do the job, too, i reckon... / turkish #puppyboatmafia #obligatoryharbourshot #inrustwetrust

here in #Turkey the so called 'DOLMUŞ', a small bus bucketing along a certain route displayed by a sign behind the windscreen is the cheapest way to get from here to there right after sitting on a donkey's back with a stick and a carrot attached to it waving infront of the donkey's face. 'Dolmuş' is the turkish word for 'alledgedly full'. think about it when you get the chance to ride one of these mostly insanely overloaded busses. it's never full. never. hopping on where the route starts may offer a splendid view from where you sit. however, sometimes i prefer the donkey which takes me from here to there way slower than a 'Dolmuş' but much more comfortable. as long as you have a carrot in your pocket - otherwise you'll have a big problem... / #WHPheretothere #dolmuş #randompeopleatrandomplaces

just like turkish parasols who are exposed to the mercylessly burning turkish sun these white fellas on four wheels suffer a life in slavery, too. their owners install gas-powered cookers to heat up water in a huge pot inside until it boils to cook corn. to keep the corn fresh and hot the gas cookers are constantly running which creates an unbearable heat inside for these poor fellas who suffer severe pain. who eats corn at that heat? why can't the owner just sell ice cream? i was up to push this poor fella over the beach right into the water to let him cool down a bit but i knew 'Scarface Abdul', the owner who must be somewhere near taking a smoking break in the shade would slit my throat! so i decided to push the sales trolley just a few inches foreward to line it up with the horizon for the perfect shot. / #soloparking #putaparasolinit #VSCOontopofHIPSTAMATIC

conducted by Louis XIV of France, also known as 'the Sun King', the orchestra of light performs the day's final symphony in #Turkey at the theatre of dreams, the place where the restless 'pursuit of happiness' finally seems ending. make sure to park your boat at the right spot before the show starts and enjoy #turkishdreams / following a #pictorialsymphony #soloparking at #theatreofdreams (sorry 'Old Trafford', this currently outshines you by far)

somewhere in #Turkey, hidden between paradise and earth, there's that one mosque with that blue spire. right there, exactly where the light from paradise hits that blue spire must be the place where all the sky-blue sapphires come into existence. / #turkishfairytales

turkish lighthouse keepers are the most passionate ones in the world. this one couldn't fix the light house's bulb before sunset and decided to park his car at the beach to guide the incoming ships by switching his car's long distance light on and off all night long. / #soloparking #davidinturkey

as a car in #Turkey life's rough. you gotta put up with a lot of nuisances. potholes, being misused as a donkey, dust, dirt, dents, bruises and rusty scratches all over your body and being exposed to the turkish sun burning your skin day in and day out. and once you think it's time to kick the bucket to rest in peace at the scrapyard you'll get fixed for another lifetime with duct tape, ropes, bubble gums or any other cheap sticky stuff your owner gets his hands on. on top of this the spot where your owner unplugs the key from your ignition is where you have to wait till he gets back - no matter if you like it there or not!
but a significant difference to the cars around you: you rest. and maybe, like this old fella, you enjoy. hangin' out at the beach with a splendid beachview for instance or even the pleasure of standing in the limelight of a random instagramer who accidentally passes by taking a quick shot for @Instagram's #WHPcarcorners.

#WHPtodayimet turkish enchantress 'Özlem' and Mr. Wannabeplayboystork 'Osman', who was also born and raised in wonderful #Turkey and rather thinks big.
Özlem is hopping mad as she told Osman to get some thin and flexible sticks to build a small but comfy nest up a pole in the area and - as you can see - Mr. Roughneck came back with a huge pile of extraextralongstrong reed. when i passed by Osman madly tried to convince Özlem of all the advantages he sees in reed but it was a wasted time. a little later the two turned away from each other and you can be sure she's not gonna talk to him before he doesn't get the small and flexible sticks. / #troublewithturkishwifes / #dabratmirdochenanstorchunddiebeenerechtknusprig #troubleatthestorks

in #Turkey you put together all the garbage you can find, fix it more or less, put an engine in it, attach at least three wheels and as long as the engine roars and the steering works you will get issued a licence plate!
well, there's no doubt it's hard to call this chunk ass pile of half-assed fixed garbage a car but it has something modern cars definitely miss. a special gear mounted to the rear end allows the driver to hook up clouds and pull them whereever he needs them. / #pullingclouds #headlampart #fixedgarbage #soloparking / #karre (@bosch) #altekarrenbattle #davidinturkey
