I sure did miss this lil' cutie
  • Does he say your name?? My favorite thing about nannying is when my kids screamed my name when I walked in the door or when they got a booboo and just wanted to be held. So sweet!

Y’all, I wasn’t the biggest football fan my entire life (although I’m always a Richmond Raider deep in my heart) but nothing made me happier than seeing @shunsy14 enjoy the #philadelphiaeagles win yesterday. If you were following along on instastory you know that the day was full of travel delays, makeup mishaps, and anxiety - but it was all worth it in the end. I would gladly turn into a human popsicle for you anytime Steve, cause I know you would do the same for me. GO 🦅 BIRDS!!!!

Here’s my current reading list with lot of hardcovers that I need to get to as well!
✔️The Heart’s Invisible Furies was maybe the best book I read last year. It perfectly balances deep subject matter with heart and humor. I became so invested into the characters that I was sad when it ended and it’s not a short book. It reminded me a lot of A Little Life but it’s not as depressing!
✔️This is How it Always Is was probably my 2nd favorite book last year. It’s one of those books that teaches you a lot and makes you look at things differently - especially if you have ever had questions about gender or what it means to be transsexual. There is so much love in this book that while you might think it’s too serious of a topic - it was one of the most uplifting books I read all year. ✔️The Short History of the Girl Next Door - I can’t really discuss this one yet because we are reading it over on Facebook for the bookclub but holy gut-punch!!!!
☑️Currently reading Neon in Daylight and I’m not sure how I feel about it. The writing is phenomenal but reading it makes me feel icky. Anyone else read it or feels the same way?
🔘The rest of the books on this list are all books that were highly recommended! I also still need to read: The Wife Between Us, The Music Shop, The Woman in the Window, The Last Mrs. Parrish and Pachinko. HELP!
What are y’all currently reading? #spiveys📚club

I am BLOWN away by the response to #spiveys📚club on Facebook 🤯 and it’s only been 2 days!!!

This group makes me especially proud because it’s full of smart women who like to read! One of the downsides of being a nanny is that it can be kind of a lonely job. I don’t meet that many young nannies and I’ve probably been to 5 happy hours in my whole life. Sure, I have the greatest group of friends ever in NYC and I used to belong to an amazing book club here (RIP NYC book club) but I’ve always wanted to be a part of something that was just mine and full of like-minded people!

I’ve done the reality thing and the fitness thing but those weren’t for me - I have definitely always felt most at home with a book (since I was 3). I love that I’ve met some amazing authors and people through this whole process and I’m excited to be a part of it! I hope that y’all will join (if you haven’t yet) and swipe thru to see some of the awesome people and discussions going on now!

Well Berly looks like a 16 year old in this pic so brb cause I need to cry. 😭
〰️
Tonight we went to see Wonder and I cried through like half the movie. At the end Berly said “This turned out to be a really good movie!” and I thought my heart would burst from all the feels. ❤️

I am in such a book hole y’all! I have so many unread @bookofthemonth novels and books on my kindle that I need to read before the end of the year! I’m not buying another book until I finish every single one! 😳
〰️
I’ve read some FANTASTIC books lately, and specially The Rules of Magic and All is Not Forgotten. Also, I keep spelling Forgotten as Forgotton 😫 what is wrong with me. The Rules of Magic was such a great departure from the murder mysteries and typical love stories. It actually reminded me of The Night Circus, one of my all-time favs. All is Not Forgotten (thank you @raychelwade) was one of those books you will not be able to put down and there is no way you will guess the ending! I was legit 😮 surprised.
〰️
I really liked We are Never Ever Meeting in Real Life. Good mix of laugh out loud stories and some pretty dark stuff that any one with depression can relate to. I’m still mad at everyone for making me read The Lying Game but only because it took me a while to get thru it. Ruth Wares’ books are crowd pleasers but anyone else hate all the characters and how the best part of the books are the last fourth of the story?
〰️
I’m currently reading Mrs. Fletcher right now and loving (Tom Perrotta is the best) as well as The Identicals. Swipe through for a look at everything!
〰️
Next month, I’m gonna compile a top 10 of my favorite books this year - hopefully in time for y’all to have something to read over the holidays! What are y’all’s fav books of 2017? #spiveys📚club
Thankful for my big, crazy family. We might fight like crazy and live all across the country but one day a year we get to enjoy great food and laugh a lot. Love y’all!

Love this tip to to survive Thanksgiving from @bonappetitmag! I’m Southern so this has always been a big no-no at the dinner table. But f*ck that. If 2017 has taught us anything it should be that now is not the time to be silent about anything. This Thanksgiving when you are with your family and friends (the ultimate safe space) you should be able to talk about politics and listen to opposing views. Good luck out there friends! 🤞🏻

This was the last picture I took with my Dad. This is the last picture of us, together as a family (a broken one at that). It’s so strange to think that today I’ve been without him for 9 years when my 9th year with him was my favorite. He took me to see Duran Duran and I thought that I had the best Dad in the world. Not to say that he was perfect, because he wasn’t - and we fought a lot. He made me so angry when he wouldn’t drive me down dirt roads after it rained, or when he picked me up from school wearing very short shorts, or when he fought hard to keep my boyfriend’s grandpa out of local political office (and won).
.
I don’t even know why I commemorate this day with pictures and words about a man who y’all didn’t know. Maybe it’s in hope that someone else will share a story about him that I didn’t know before. Maybe it’s because if I always do this, then it will help keep his memory alive. Regardless, here’s 9 pictures of the man I miss most today, but everyday, and forever.

Doing all sorts of things in the name of fitness for @hbfit this weekend. Tried out @cryofuel because I am sore AF from this week’s triple (@clewis1and1 + @jlgboxing + @jennyholahan) and loved it. Here’s a sexy outtake of me in my cryochic wear. Am I doing this takeover correctly lol?😂
