Hey it is @kevinkuster posting and highlighting an image for today's theme Abstract Forum. Tag #jj_forum_0413.

To me this great image submitted by @kdkuiper looks like a modern day "super macro" shot of a pointillism painting. Please take a look at @kdkuiper feed and give them some IG love and new followers.

Thanks to editor @jj_editor_carolyn_denise for finding this image.

Good morning everyone! One last feature from yesterday. Back in an hour and we’ll launch a brand new theme. This lighthouse was brought to us by @saltis77. Love it. 🙂👍🏻.
.
Today's theme is "Mixed Light" and the tag is #jj_forum_2052. I’ve personally been through the entire tag and this is one of my favorites. It’s a strikingly unique image by @natalex777 in Houston. Really cool shot Natasha. - @joshjohson
Evening again everyone. I love this striking example of today’s theme from @mjleubecker. I’ve personally been through the entire tag and this is one of my favorites. Today's theme is "Mixed Light" and the tag is #jj_forum_2052.
How on point is this image by my friend Emily, aka, @el_fotomat!? I love how she’s got one light on her face and another as a rimming hair light. I’ve personally been through the entire tag and this one is one of my favorites for sure. Today's theme is "Mixed Light" and the tag is #jj_forum_2052.
You guys know I love a reflection. Add a sense of depth and I'm sold. Nice job @julneighbour. Thanks to @jj_editor_arashrimus_ the assist. Today's theme is "Mixed Light" and the tag is #jj_forum_2052. A little behind on features today but don't worry. I'm hanging outside drama class, waiting on Miranda. Should be able to get through the whole tag before she's out. Stand by for my Faves
Today in the forum we're looking for shots featuring BOTH artificial light and sunlight in the same scene.
.
Good Morning from Georgia everyone. @joshjohnson here. I was sitting here at my dining room table trying to think of a cool idea for today’s forum and then I realized I had a killer lesson right in front of me! NICE! Today’s theme is “Mixed Light”.
.
There is a magic that happens when the lighting of a dynamic scene all works together. Especially when you find a way to use the tension between artificial and natural light. The secret to capturing that magic is understanding that tension and your camera’s limitations.
.
Your camera see's the world different than you do. As your gaze scans a scene, your eye is constantly adjusting its sensitivity to light and dark so you can extract details in shadows and bright areas of a scene. Your eye also automatically adjust the white balance of new settings or even adjusts the white balance of different parts of one scene to an extent. It doesn’t bug you that much that the inside, lit by lightbulbs, is quite orange and the outside is blue sunlight. Your camera on the other hand, captures a scene at one set exposure and white balance. The result? Often a picture with considerably more dramatic variations in exposure and white balance than you’d expect.
.
There’s good and bad news. This weakness on your cameras part can lead to some frustrating shots if you don’t know what’s going on. I first really struggled with this mixed light problem on skin color. Get warm lightbulb light on one side of a face and window light on the other and it can just look yucky. Or try and capture a lovely flower in your window, with your manicured garden, bathed in sun in the back, and you’ll over expose the outside. The shot you envisioned just won’t work.
.
The good news is you can use your cameras challenges with mixed light in your favor as well though. It’s all about directing the eye. Use this image as an example. Humans are naturally drawn to warm colors over cool. The warm candle light does a good job of pulling us into the subject and isolating it against the cool background light.

Hello, JJ family! I’m not so sure what this is a photo of, but that’s kind of the point of Abstract photography. Maybe it’s a part of an old fence or car. Whatever it may be, I’m digging the rusty colors and composition of @henn.jo ‘s photo. Thanks to Anarchy page @jj_beautyofrust for the original highlight. Please show them some JJ love! Have a great week ahead! @dodovo 🙋🏻

It's @kevinkuster announcing our theme for today.

Theme: Abstract

Seeing life in the abstract can often be very fun. Although sometimes it's challenging to understand who or what a object might be, it truly makes for great photography.
#JJ_EXPLAINED-.
.
Are you new to the community? It's not as confusing as it seems at first. :-). Here's the deal.
.
Every morning, NYC time, we make a post announcing our new theme and tag. Your job is to tag images that fit the theme. You can use shots you have already posted but we really love to see the theme inspire you to find new shots. The @jj_editors, @joshjohnson and I scour the tag and repost our favorite submissions through out the day. Over half a million people might see your pic! Pretty cool stuff.
.
We are ALL about keeping things simple, but in the spirit of our motto, "Create to connect", we ask that you follow our only "rule". We call it the 1-2-3 rule. For every 1 image you tag, comment on 2 in the tag and like 3 others.
.
Glad you're here. Can't wait to see your shots. Speak up if you have questions or comments. We like to think this is the friendliest place on the Internet.
.
This great photo was submitted by @lisarobertsonpics and found by @jj_editor_nselmo to yesterday's theme.
