Our family’s motto is “Enjoy the journey, stop for treats.” If you don’t have a family motto, I highly recommend you come up with one. The kids love to remind us of our motto (and so do our friends 😂), if we’re not having a good attitude... or we haven’t stopped for a treat in awhile. Our motto comes from a quote by Thomas S. Monson that says, “Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with friends and family.”
So today we hiked a big hill and ate Cadbury Christmas mini eggs while we did it. It was hard, but awesome. 💕
⭐️TODDLER HIKING TIPS/TOOLS⭐️: have a backpack carrier, @ergobaby or @piggybackrider, bring water, a few snacks, band-aids, a few wipes, one diaper or change of underwear, and a treat (lollipops or fruit snacks are our favorite emergency items). We love to play i-Spy or go on scavenger hunts while we hike. We also ALWAYS make sure to hike somewhere where kids can climb on things. .
Do you have any other tips? What else do you bring?

My sweet Catie snuck into the guest room tonight and secretly sorted ALL of the laundry from the week. She said she got a little tearful doing it because she knew how happy she would make me.💕 #gratefulmama #celebratethesmallthings

I am so excited for Christmas and yet always overwhelmed thinking about a few of the things—>> getting the tree, setting it up, and getting all of our ornaments down and unwrapped. I am always SO HAPPY once everything is up though and never want to take it down. Instead of getting ready sometimes, I procrastinate and make ornaments with the kids instead. 🤣 Last year we made so many sparkly lid ornaments for the kid’s tree while I was procrastinating that the whole thing might be covered this year. ✨😂
When do you decorate for Christmas? We usually start the Monday after Thanksgiving. What’s your favorite part of the Christmas prep/least favorite part? .
Our lid ornaments are just made with white glue, playdough lids, and sequins. The easy tutorial is on the blog if you need that sort of thing.
Happy Friday! xoxo

About eight years ago I moved with our little family to a new place. I had no friends and one little toddler that didn’t sleep or cooperate like everyone else’s toddlers seemed to do. 😜😭
On one rainy day, kinda like it is here today, I decided that I needed to intentionally find something to help me THRIVE and find more joy in my day (besides Mrs Fields cookies and DC). I started connecting with other crafty and creative moms online and in my community and found my tribes.
Through these connections I also discovered that I wanted to help other moms. I wanted us all to work together to find those moms who seemed to know what they were doing and have them TEACH us. Over the years I’ve learned that no one really has it all together, but everyone has something to share and something that they are awesome at.
For me, my things are that I love to create, connect, and celebrate. I love creating beauty, fun experiences, and BIG messes. I also love connecting people to new friends, new ideas, and new tools to help them… and I love celebrating big and little moments with ice cream!🍦Laundry, cleaning, and cooking are not my things. 😂
I’d love to hear what your things are… or what they’re not. .
I think together, sharing our talents, struggles, successes, tools, and inspiration, we can empower each other to be the moms (or dads or teachers), that we are destined to be. I hope you’ll help me do that over the next few months and if you have any specific things you need help with, comment or direct message me.
If you made it this far, you win a gold star ⭐️⭐️⭐️for the day. Thanks for being here. Thanks for sharing who you are. Thanks for the nice messages you send me, comments, likes, and love, always. ❤️ Happy Thursday! xoxo -Kristina

When we picked Ryan up from school today Annabelle couldn’t wait to tell him “I paint” (meaning she painted while he was AT school). We made this easy paper plate turkey. She painted it with our @fiddleanddoodle markers, I added the glue, and she helped me stick everything on. I helped straighten the feathers a bit and we had a blast doing some mom & tot craft time. If you need another easy Thanksgiving craft, this is it.

Sometimes we have lollipops for breakfast. 😂 #winning .
Seriously though, sometimes whatever it takes to get through the day is my mantra. 😜 School fun run in the rain, next to the playground that I didn’t want her to play on called for pulling out the big guns. 🍭🍭🍭

Annabanana now mostly feeds herself for meals and I don't think my floor, her hair, or her clothes will ever be the same!! 😱 Today on the blog we're talking about feeding babies (click on the link in my profile to check it out). Do you have a train table at your house?? We used to have one and it was my favorite thing EVER. With four kids and dwindling space in our house we got rid of ours and I still miss it! 😭 This weekend we made a little homemade train table and Annabelle has been playing with it non-stop. The best party about it is that she can’t take the tracks apart and knock them onto the floor. 🎉😂 She loves knocking down and rebuilding the tunnels though. (More details are on the blog. Click the link in my profile.) ..
Anyone else have a train lover? 🙋‍♀️ Car lover? Truck obsessed kid? We’re hosting TRANSPORTATION WEEK all week for our weekly book club and we’re reading Freight Train by Donald Crews. Watch stories this week for more vehicle crafts and activities.

Earlier this week I pulled out my modge podge and we made these darling gratitude jars with our little Daisy troop. I downloaded gratitude printables from @30daysblog and then shrunk them... but now I want to hang them up in big sizes around my house too!! .
Taking time to notice little miracles or find things to be grateful for has helped me through hard years and busy days. I keep forgetting to actually have us USE our little jar that Catie made, but most nights year-round I jot down things I am grateful for in a google doc that I keep on my phone. It is funny to look back and see what I wrote. “I got to eat an enormous bowl of ice cream after the kids went to bed”... “we finally made it on time to school” ... Or “@kevinbuskirk did the dishes for me” are pretty typical entries. 😂 .
What are you grateful for this week? Today? .
Tonight i am grateful for toddler cuddles and big siblings who help each other clean their rooms. .
Happy Friday friends! ❤️

I am pretty much obsessed with handprint crafts because little toddler hands are THE cutest. ❤️Banana and I made this fun project this afternoon before she got sick... and then she spent the rest of the night holding my hand watching Moana and Finding Dory. 😢😍 Sick toddlers that will actually cuddle with you are also adorable.
Some of my tips for getting semi-decent painted toddler handprints and still having fun 🤣 are on the blog. I just added a linktree app link to my profile. So if you click on the link in my profile then you can see the top post is my “Easy Handprint Turkey Craft.” .
Anyone else obsessed with handprint crafts like me? 😂

Thanksgiving is almost here! Last night I helped host a fun dinner party at church and my friend Tiffany shared a bunch of cute ideas for kid’s holiday tables! While listening I was reminded of these hysterical turkey chair backers I made a few years back for our little guests. 😂 That year i also made these really ugly photo turkey placemats for the kids that they could color on with whiteboard markers. I’ll try and post a picture of them in stories. Fortunately there are so many easier and MUCH cuter ideas out there these days! If you do a kid’s Thanksgiving table, I’d love to hear your ideas! I’ll link a few of my favorites in stories too.

Welcome welcome to all of the new friends that have started following along in the past few days!! Take a sec and introduce yourselves and tell me your favorite activity to do with your toddler or big kids.
SPIN ART is our favorite! Our salad spinner has never actually met a salad... 😜 but it is constantly full of paint! If you haven’t tried spin art, put it on your “to do” list ASAP. Over on today I am sharing our Llama Llama Red Pajama inspired spin art to go along with our featured book this week! Click on the link in my profile for more details.

This pajama toss and match game is one of our favorites. It’s a great one to do when you are sorting laundry or just goofing around. Who doesn’t love to throw clothes everywhere? 😂

And just like that BOOM 💥 it is November. The kiddos spent the morning pinning and planning our Thanksgiving activities for the month 😂 and we even put up our Thanksgiving advent calendar. We haven’t made a gratitude tree in a few years so I think that is on our agenda this week too. This gratitude turkey jar is an old favorite and a perfect one to fill with leftover Halloween candy. Click on the link in my profile for details. You can also make a pumpkin turkey if you have any of those left! Some people like to skip straight to Christmas, but I love spending a month thinking about gratitude as we prep for Thanksgiving! If you have any favorite things you love to do, DM me a picture, I’d love to share them on stories and tag you.
Have a Happy November 1st!

Happy happy Halloween friends! Hope it is a great one however you celebrate! We partied all morning and will hopefully all take naps this afternoon. 😜 I was downing Kit Kat’s by 8am because we had a little bit of a stressful start with one of my kiddos. Never a dull moment around here. 😂 More pics in stories. I’d love to hear what you do on Halloween!! Any fun traditions?

We’re pulling out the sparkles for BAT WEEK and making these easy peasy bats this afternoon. When I was getting set up yesterday afternoon my “helpers” moved the box of glitter and decorated the whole kitchen floor too. 😂 I have a feeling it will be even more sparkly this afternoon after a few more bats are made. We haven’t decorated outside yet for Halloween so I figure we’d better get started! 😜🎃 ..
For our Virtual Book Club for Kids this week we are reading my favorite bat book—Stellaluna! Have you read it? 🦇❤️

Birthday season has officially begun at our house! We have one birthday a month from Oct-March. We had so much fun celebrating this cutie this weekend!
Do you have any favorite birthday traditions? Or any you plan to start?
Someday Ry will learn to make a normal face for a picture 😂
