Who gets inspired by periods and pug puppies? Gemma Correll, known as @gemmacorrell. This England native likes to draw everyday people in their everyday lives. “A lot of my work comes from personal experience. I make comics and illustrations about my every day life, particularly concerning my struggles with anxiety — and also about being a woman in general — I have a lot to say about periods!” The 32-year-old also has two pugs: Mr. Pickles and Bella, whom she often features in her illustrations. If you want to have a great Instagram account, she offers this piece of advice: “Being yourself is important. I put more personal work on Instagram than on any other social media or website. It's not always 'finished' — sometimes, it's just a scribble from my sketchbook, but I think followers like to see things like that, and behind-the-scenes stuff. I try to vary my posts, so I'll have a pic of a new product, followed by a comic, followed by something from my sketchbook — and I post nearly every day. Also, it helps if you have cute pets.” Her proudest moment included the images she created for Mental Health America for its "mental illness feels like" campaigns in 2016 and 2017. In the final part of our Women and Prison collaboration with the @marshallproj, the women speak with Senator Cory Booker about the obstacles people getting out of prison must surmount.
“I know that I'm a role model for a lot of people, and I'd like to be. I know that there are people who probably don't agree with how I think or how I see myself and my place in this world. That's OK. I would be remiss not to take advantage of this platform that I have, because I don't want any other woman or girl feeling like the way that I felt; that I didn't belong; that I would never succeed in the medium that I'm choosing to pursue because my hair isn't straight or my skin isn't light or my eyes aren't bright. There are so many things that tend to play against us. I think it's important to speak out about it.”— @iamamurray talks season 2 of #Riverdale. 👀 Hands up in the comments if you watched last night’s episode! ✋️📷: @evaankheraj

“I know fame is fleeting, and this is our moment, and I'm going to relish in it, and enjoy and appreciate it for what it is. But at the end of the day, what I really want is to take this and build upon it, and build my career, and keep doing work that I'm proud of, and challenging myself. That is why I got into this. I got into this to make a living doing what I love, and doing something that I'm inspired to do, and also to inspire others to do the same.”— #CamilaMendes talks about #Riverdale season 2. ❤️ If you’re as Riverdale-obsessed as I am, tap the link in bio to join Teen Vogue’s new Facebook group where you’ll find exclusive content, interviews and cast updates every day! 👀👀👀
