It's this fragment of a second. It is everything. In order of appearance: @chanceberrygarrison on the wall. @seanienewton in the air. @ejcomerzan on the ledge, and I convinced @loose_spokes into the synchronized aerials routine with me for a long-distance dedication to @matt_coplon 🖤 Honorable mentions tonight go to @carlsonbmx @turtlenutss @bigheadfloyd @dylan_baas_bmx @always_97_ and an absentee right-in for @lpk_mikey
I've had the opportunity to tell my story a few times over the years, but this one offers a clearer perspective on some different topics. In the short time since Matt and Cooper approached me about this interview, a lot has changed in my life. One constant has remained--the status of my sobriety. Thanks to @deathless_avenue for the chance to open up. Link in my profile or punch up deathlessavenue.com Cheers🖤 @seanienewton photos📷

There were a few comments about the mags in the Tim Judge pic I posted earlier. They are MX-60 aluminum mags (like these on my 1976 Yamaha Motobike Model C). Heavy and flower-like in design, but still a favorite of mine. I believe the MX-60s were the first BMX wheels to use sealed bearings--in the front, only (rear is a coaster brake). I recently learned that Stu Thomsen was sponsored by the MX-60 parent company to run these bad boys.

DUDE! Happy birthday Kelly Baker! Here's to the eternal hot foot flame 🔥 (seen here being executed on a slumbering Derrick Girard somewhere in Kentucky, circa 2006ish).

One year ago, today. The jumps have been done for weeks now, and with the frequent freezing, they are mush for the next six months. Here's to all the good days, and many more to come.

Sometimes life gets in the way of rolling free. Some make it back from the edge. Here's to never letting go. @bigheadfloyd with a wild and woolly rail ride at Kzoo 🏁🏁🏁

I got a physical yesterday, and as the Dr. was going through my stats, he said something about staying active. He mentioned that he had been doing a lot of mountain biking, but had hurt his shoulder and hasn't been back on it since "You know how it is, once you stop, it's difficult to get going again.". I just kind of gave him a nod and chuckled as he inspected my lower legs, my shins riddled with a lifetime of pedal-scars, and he paused at my right ankle "Did you suffer an injury to this ankle? It is very loose". "Probably, at some point", I said. On my list of constant aches and pains, that ankle isn't even in the top 10.

#tbt 1977. Pioneer Park. This is one of the very first races I ever attended. My best bud Larry Lowis is #33 in the yellow jersey, and the rider in front (with no plate) is Tom Mulrenin (still a friend to this day). Tom is riding a trick Redline Squareback with a freewheel, which was cutting edge equipment back then. Tom was from nearby Paw Paw, and Paw Paw Bike shop had a bunch of legit BMX bikes and gear--hard to imagine now in the tiny town that it is. I was so obsessed with BMX at this time that seeing any real bike or equipment was mind blowing. Imagine going to your first hockey game and seeing a real hockey stick or helmet for the first time in your life. That's what it was like. It was all brand new, especially in our area of Michigan. There was another guy, Chris, who was the same age as Larry and Tom (a year older than I) who had a sweet blue Webco, also with a freewheel rear hub and hand brake. I had never seen, nor did I understand, what a freewheel was, and naively asked him "Is that a three-speed or something?". His reply has stuck with me for 40+ years: "It's a freewheel, stupid."

If you could only watch one episode of one TV show for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mine would be the episode of Gilligans Island where they made a skatepark out of coconuts🌴 Getting in some #tabletoptuesday action while weather and schedules permit. Captured by @seanienewton using batteries from that radio the professor had.
