Whats for dinner? How about this spicy #vegan "stew-chi?" It has the rich flavors of stew combined with the spiciness of chili, and it is easy to make in a skillet in about an hour.

It's made with savory seitan (or sub jackfruit for #glutenfree), lots of fresh veggies, and spices, and it will please even the meat eaters at your table. And its perfect to warm you up on a cold winter night.

The recipe is #ontheblog direct link in my profile).
Yikes! I almost forgot to share my awesome January @stridebox! #ad Which would have been a shame since its full of lots great #running goodies!

Even better is that you can save $5 on your first #stridebox with the code 5CDR417 at

Here's some of the deliciously good stuff: Mexican Chocolate (#yum) Chia bar from @healthwarrior ; Strawberry energy gel from @clifbar; Banana Bites (with peanut butter! Those babies didn't last long! 😁) from @eatbarnana ; Iced Brownie Endurance Bar fron @myprbars; and Spring McRaecovery post workout gel from @spring_energy! Plus Chai Lip Balm from @allgoodbrand and #strideboxessential No-Tie Elastic Knot Laces. Score!

Seriously, getting my monthly Stride Box is one of the highlights of my month!

Sunday run day = Sunday fun day! Recovery trail runs with @alantwoodruff are always fun, even after a Saturday 12 mile run (for me) and a 90 mile bike ride (for him).

And because I know you guys love our #jumpforjoy shots, scroll through for a couple goodies. 😙
"What you perceive as a failure today may actually be a crucial step towards the success you seek. Never give up." ~ Richelle E. Goodrich

I won't lie to you. This 12 mile run was tough. I'm not sure why. The weather was perfect, if a little windy. I slept pretty well, and was well fueled and hydrated. I actually expected it to be a little easier than last week's run. But no, it was, let's just call it character-building. 😂

The Palm Desert Half Marathon is just a few weeks away, so a tough run has the potential to be discouraging. Instead I will try to look at it as that cruciall step roward success.

I'm running a 10k next weekend, then I'll have just one more long run before my goal race. I actually do feel that my training has been right where I wanted it to be. So, it's time to move on from this run, rest, and look forward to the next one.

How do you get past a bad run or workout?

"Every single time you help somebody stand up you are helping humanity rise." ~ Steve Maraboli

I believe in lifting one another up. We are better together. But before you can do so, you must take care of yourself. •

One of my goals this year is to take better care of myself. Between running and @gixofit classes, I have the exercise part down. I eat a mostly healthy #vegan diet. I generally get enough sleep. It's kind of the body care that I'm lacking.

So, to start on a high note, I had a massage today. It was amazing. As a runner, I expect all those tight quads, glutes, and hamstrings, but my "blogging muscles, " my back, shoulders, and neck, were in even worse shape! 😏 A good reminder that self-care begins at home. 😚

What's your favorite way to take care of yourself? • • • •

"To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think -- spend some time time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think and cry, that's a heck of a day." ~ Jim Valvano

Another favorite quote from Jimmy V is "don't give up, dont ever give up." It's a great motivating thought for runners and other athletes. •

That's why "Never Give Up" was the very first wrap bracelet I got from @momentumjewelry. Now, several years later I have way more than a wristful of motivation wraps and I'm a #momentumjewelry ambassador.

Which is why I have TWO great things to share with you! •

#1: If you love Momentum Jewelry as much as I do, you can apply to become an ambassador too! Applications are open January 19 and 20 (two days only!) at

#2: BOGO sale! Buy one get one 50% off! A great time to inspire a friend, offer support, or give yourself a little extra motivation. The special is on through January 31 on select items only. Some exclusions apply. #sharethespark! •

What motivates you to give that extra push? Do you have a mantra?
"Life is a journey with almost limitless possibilities." ~ Ken Poirot #ad

I usually run alone. I actually love it, but sometimes I do miss the company of running friends.

Today, thanks to @gixofit , I had the chance to run with my Ragnar teammate @jamiekingfit even though she is in Oregon and I'm in SoCal!

We were both signed up for the Cardio Quickie, a 25 minute class that incorporates a warm-up, some intervals and sprints, plus a cooldown. It was challenging and fun and of course I loved the chance to run with an old friend even if it was virtually. •

I had a little more on my schedule so after class I headed out for my hill workout. 5 more miles, 8 hill repeats, a couple uphill intervals, and one downhill interval. Whew!

Did you work out with friends this morning?

Finding joy in the journey.

So nice to come home after a long day at work, to @alantwoodruff, all my #dogs, a glass of wine, and my cool new @momentumjewelry trucker hat! Its also not bad to have the door open at 6 pm! 😏

Today I'm sharing my favorite go-to recipe for homemade seitan. Its quick and easy to make your own "wheat meat" at home!

The recipe is #ontheblog (link is in my profile), plus, just in case you don't know what to do with it once you've made it, some of my favorite recipes! (Scroll through to see a few)

Still scratching your head? Seitan is a delicious meat substitute made from wheat gluten. It has a meaty texture and can be seasoned in many ways making it a perfect fit for your favorite recipes.
"If you can dream it, you can do it." ~ Helen Keller

Yes, I cut my head off. But dang, my legs look good! 🤣 My @skirtsports #jette skirt and my new @procompression Kaleidoscope socks help!

The plan was a rest day, but I have to work early tomorrow, so...

Instead I did an interval workout! 6 x 1/2 mile repeats at about 5k effort. I do them on the road near my home. Pretty pleased with myself and ready for that day off tomorrow. •

Did you get a workout in today?
"Oh, the things you can find if you don't stay behind! ~ Dr. Seuss

It's always a good time for a quote from the good doctor!

Today's recovery run was hard, I won't lie to you. Tomorrow is a rest day and I can't wait. But today I get to run with @alantwoodruff who was coming off an 80 mile bike ride. Needless to say, with that and my 12 mile run yesterday, our #trailrun was slow and easy.

Running on tired legs can be beneficial as long as you can still run with good form and nothing is hurting. The key is to realize when it is better to take an extra day off.

How did you start this beautiful Sunday?
"You can always tell who the strong women are. They're ones building other women up instead of tearing them down." ~ Anoynomous

She can leap tall, um, bushes at a single bound!

No, I don't pretend to be Superwoman, though society pushes that upon women. We are frequently expected to be all, do all, and know all. If you're old enough to remember this, we're supposed to bring home the bacon then fry it all up in a pan.

But that's not reality. Yes, we're strong, tough, limitless, but we are only human. I guess my point is don't be too hard on yourself when you can't do it all. And remember we are stronger when we work together.

FYI, that bacon quote is from a 1978 commercial for Enjoli titled "Because I'm a Woman." Jeez, either we were expected to stay home and be pretty housewives, or have a career. And still be pretty housewives.

Oh, and by the way. I ran 12 miles today. Longest run in a long time!

"Smash the Goals in your Life! You are the Unstoppable!"" ~ Avijeet Das #ad

I'm so lucky to work at a gym. Not only do I get to share my love of fitness and help my clients and students get stronger and live healthier lives, I have such easy access to the tools that make me stronger.

I love variety in my workouts, how about you? At home, I've been using #gixofit and loving the live classes and short, challenging workouts. (See my review #ontheblog link is in my profile).

When I'm at the gym I love to head to the @trxtraining for my #bodyweighttraining workout. I love the variety and challenge.

These are some of the things that keep me strong and make me unstoppable. I hope you will join me, @gixofit, and @fitapproach every Wednesday and Friday for the rest of the month and share what makes you unstoppable. Be sure to tag them and use hashtags #IAMLIMITLESS and #Sweatpink. •

What makes you unstoppable?
"If you must walk in someone's shadow make sure it's your own." ~ Rasheed Ogunlaru

Dark, rainy days don't last long around here! I don't dare talk about chilly when I have so many friends surviving winter on the east coast. And the midwest. And the north. Basically everywhere but here in southern California. 🙄

I missed my tempo run on Tuesday because of the rain, so I needed to get it done today. I wasn't feeling it though, so I tried to have a little fun with it. And what's more fun than a ladder workout?

Well, maybe a lot of things, but we're talking speedwork here. 🙄 I started with a mile warm up, then ran 1/4 mile at a hard pace. 1/4 mile recovery, then a half mile hard. 1/4 mile recovery, then one mile hard. Then I worked my way back down the ladder (seriously the best part of the workout 👌). Six miles total with about 2.5 at hard tempo pace. •

How did you start your day?
"If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else." ~ Booker T Washington #ad

We're all together in this life, right? Can we not work together to lift each other up?

So all the jumps can't be perfect. Doesn't matter. In my spirit I feel I'm jumping to the sky. I am limitless and so are you!

Join me, @fitapproach, and @gixofit in this challenge. Every Wednesday and Friday share a post about what or who makes you feel limitless.

I'll start! My husband and favorite running partner, @alantwoodruff always has my back, lifts me up, and supports me.

Who makes you feel limitless? •

"When life gives you lemons, invite your friends and ask them to bring salt and tequila." ~ Unknown

My work is not a bad place to run.

Woke up this morning to heavy rain so my planned tempo run with @alantwoodruff was not to be.

I'm an optimist though, so I brought my running gear to work. I work at a gym so I had 2 options during my open time. Treadmill or (fingers crossed) the rain would let up a bit and I could run outdoors. As you can see, option 2 happened!

I will admit, it is hard for me to run later than normal, but I also knew that the hardest part is simply to start. And so I did. And while I didn't get that tempo run, , the country club where I work has many hills to climb so I challenged myself to really push on those uphills. Five miles done!

Making lemonade! Or rather tequila shots! 🤣

Today was a rest day for running so I did 2, count 'em, 2 #gixofit classes! #ad Booty Work and Total Core for the win! They were each only 15 minutes but Emily (she taught both classes) managed to kick my butt! (Scroll through to see my helpful dogs. Though they did poop out about halfway through class. 🤣)

I tell you, I'm loving these workouts, especially Total Core. I hate doing ab work but having a structured, SHORT class with a live instructor is so much fun! My abs were sore all weekend from my first class!

2018 is going to be a great year! I'm trying to move beyond goals or resolutions to achieve permanent change. This is real life and #IAMLIMITLESS!

I hope you will join @gixofit, @fitapproach and me for the #iamlimitlesschallenge! Starting this Wednesday, January 10, we will be sharing messages of inspiration, empowerment and positivity, every Wednesday and Friday through February 2. We want YOU to join us in this incredible movement. Share what makes you limitless, be sure to tag @gixofit and @fitapproach (and me too if you'd like...@coachdebbieruns) and use the hashtags #IAMLIMITLESS and #Sweatpink. •

I have more info #ontheblog (link in my profile) and I'll have even more coming later this week. In the meantime, I hope you'll join us starting Wednesday!

"The desert, when the sun comes up...I couldn't tell where heaven stopped and the Earth began." ~ Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump)

Recovery run with @alantwoodruff this morning. I was tired from my long run, he had bike legs, but we managed 5+ trail miles.

This wasn't the best picture I took today, but it has the best hair, so...🙄

Eleven miles in the books this morning. It's been a good training week. Nailed my workouts. Palm Desert Half Marathon here I come!

I just completed my first @gixofit class! I loved Total Core. A bit of a challenge with my dogs "helping" me (see my story for more about that), but it was a great, quick workout.
