If we truly want to be advocates for orphans, we need to do our due diligence. Yes, there will always be a need for the complicated and beautiful act of adoption, for some children, it is their only chance at a loving family .... but clearly there needs to be a lot of ground work to make sure the adoption is ethical. ALSO... the fight for family preservation as a first line of defense against the causation of the orphan is essential.
I am so thankful I know of ministries and organizations on the ground fighting this issue. They are fighting unethical practices and empowering parents to keep their families together so they never step foot in an orphanage in the first place. There are many ways to care for orphans, and while adoption typically gets the main stage, supporting ethical and local efforts to preserve vulnerable families is such a worthy place to focus support. Some of these ministries are trying to grow the culture of foster care and adoption within its own local communities too, which would also make reunification more possible.
This saddens me deeply..... these situations are already so hard and evil creeps in because it saw a way to profit off the vulnerable.
Lord have mercy..... @thearchibaldproject Is a great place to start on getting familiar with ethical orphan care options!
3 Things: 1. I'm sorry my first IG live was so long , I got so nervous! Next time I'll try to be more succinct when covering supplies and get right to painting 😬 Would it be helpful for me to do those more often? 2. I just stumbled upon @naomibulger who combines 2 things I love... painting and snail mail. Our letters just got a major upgrade! 3. These journals from @portlandleather are 👌🏼😍. Ps. I know nicely placed things in a shot is so 2000 and late, but I still love them sooo.....
When it's 99 degrees we go mooch off air conditioned shops... few lil purchases for courtesy sake, of course 😬

Get into water, with all its beauty and danger. Hold one of your hands behind your back. Imagine not being able to kick one of your legs. Now swim. That's what she does. The amount of strength it takes to swim with half your body... the amount of energy it takes to pull your head out of the water for breath... my goodness, she amazes me. Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy is her diagnosis , but Strength is her emblem. She's doing it you guys, she's swimming.
We ended up having the best chunk of school sitting in a patch grass right outside of Barns and Noble. It was unexpected and so simple.... my heart was swollen with joy how captivated they were in our books and togetherness. I'll never regret what I've passed on to be with my girls.
Math class and laundry converge 😬
We are a pretty safe distance from the fire.... but people are loosing their homes and others in danger of it. Evacuations are in place and firefighters are doing their heroic thing 🙏🏼

I love these ladies... is there such thing as therapy chickens? I think there needs to be such a thing, cuz they hug and they're hilarious. Juss say'n
I gave a drawing lesson of a feather , followed by some Q and A, at the @wildandfree.co conf. These ladies did so well, @tinaglee and I came up with the final idea to have them turn in their drawings to me , on a self addressed postcard, so I can write them all and mail them back to them ❤️ I have lots of notes to write ahead of me but seeing their awesome drawings will keep me inspired! They're coming ladies 📬

I am so incredibly thankful our @jennifernaraki was able to come to @wildandfree.co conference with us! To see all of you stop her with your eyes filled with tears and words filled with surprise that she made it there, never got old. So many of you have never met her but have diligently prayed for her and her family. Many times i glanced over and she was being covered with hugs and prayers and I smiled.... and then @thehuntsmusic singing for her, forget it 😭. Thank you for loving her so well ladies, it was a blessing to sit back and watch.
This fall 🍂🍁 feel'n page was fun to paint! I'm providing a tutorial on painting this carrot along with photography of @jennifernaraki at the farmers market with her boys in an upcoming @wildandfree.co bundle :) I also interviewed her about farmers markets and food! Should be a good one ❤️ #ibenaturejournaling
