Photo by @michaelclarkphoto // Sea stacks as seen from Second Beach in Olympic National Park near La Push, Washington. This morning dawned clear, which is a small miracle for this time of year on the Olympic Peninsula. We also had the beach to ourselves, which was another amazing surprise. To get this image I stood in the water with my tripod firmly embedded in the sand. #olympicnationalpark #secondbeach @olympicnationalpark

Never miss an opportunity to capture the world in 4K with your @DJIGlobal #MavicPro // A stand up paddle boarder navigates along the canal through a beautiful and rugged maze of ice in Langjökull glacier, Iceland. Glaciers are always moving, making these water ways where the lake and the glacier intersects even more unique. You can return the following year to this same location and it will be entirely different, which means you get to explore it freshly once again.

📸 @johnkernickphotography The Golden Gate Bridge, spanning the Golden Gate, the one-strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco, California, and the United States. It has been declared one of the Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The bridge links San Francisco and Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1across the strait. .

Congaree National Park is one of the lesser known gems of the National Park system. A paddle down the Congaree River feels like a swamp but is actually an old growth forested floodplain, an incredibly haunting place (in a good way). After three hours kayaking we encountered at least two dozen snakes basking along the shore and overhanging branches. Can you guess what kind of snake this is?

The World at Night photography
A couple of nights ago next to an icon in Utah. A great aspect of US National Parks is their pristine dark skies, thanks to the Night Sky Program in the parks which controls light pollution. To me as a night photographer who spent past 2 decades imaging under stars in all continents, this is the paradise!
The Milky Way, from Scorpius to Aquila, appears at the end of twilight above the Delicate Arch, 60 ft (18m) high, in the Arches National Park. On @babaktafreshi find more of our planet’s wonders at night.

Photo by @KristaRossow // Up, up, and away... The #Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta wrapped up yesterday and I was lucky enough to get to enjoy the "mass ascension" of over 500 hot air balloons one morning. There are few man-made experiences that can rival the wonder and awe I find in nature, but this is one of them. It is pure magic. #hotairballoon To see more from #NewMexico, visit @KristaRossow.

Video by @bertiegregory. A baby bottlenose dolphin (a calf) comes over to check me out in waters off Gubal Island in the northern Red Sea. I was lucky enough to spend over an hour with this calf and it’s mother as they swam laps around me. It's incredible to think that bottlenose dolphins are capable of diving well over 250m deep. Photo by @renan_ozturk// I set this timelapse up on the edge of a still lake in Ólafsfjörður and left it overnight. When I came back to retrieve it in the morning, the dropping temps had frozen the lake edge into a solid block. The tripod legs were completely locked in, sword in the stone style and I wasn't the knight. Ended up having to take big rock boulders, lift them over my head, and smash them onto the ice. Photo by @jodymacdonaldphoto // For many people the main reason for visiting Cabo Verde is the spectacular island of Santo Antão. A geographically diverse island filled with canyons, gorges, and mountains that reach as high as 4,921ft (1,500m), it is known as the island of mountains, wind and water. With sparse human development, nature lovers can find many idyllic hideaways such as this small picturesque village known as Fonatinhas. Perched on a narrow ridge filled with pastel colored houses, Fontainhas boasts some of the most spectacular views of the steep vertical valleys that drop off directly into the Atlantic ocean below. With a landscape like this, it’s no wonder that Santo Antão offers some of the most amazing hiking in West Africa. Photo by @christopheviseux // Dhofar Region, Salalah, Oman. The end of the monsoon season (Khareef) in Southern Oman creates spectacular landscapes in this otherwise dry area. This weather pattern is unique in the region. From June to September, it is quite astonishing to see rain soaked mountains and fog, while the rest of the Arabian Peninsula experiences a rise in temperatures of up to 45º Celsius (+110F). @FransLanting The spiny desert of Madagascar is as otherworldly as it appears. More than 90% of all plants that thrive here are found nowhere else on earth—not even in other parts of Madagascar. The striking sights in this unique landscape include the twisted tentacles of the octopus tree, which resembles a cactus but it is not. It is one of the many astonishing examples of Madagascar’s parallel evolution. Lifeforms different in origin may end up looking alike when faced with similar conditions over long periods of time. Follow me @FransLanting for new discoveries from Madagascar.

Photo @max.lowe // Last light as seen from The Fruit Bowl, an alcove tucked back up a side canyon off of the Green River on the edge of Canyon lands National Park, UT. The big 5 national parks in Utah get some of the highest numbers of visitors from the US and abroad alike, and while the parks hold unique beauty, the surrounding BLM land, open to any and all for adventure and exploration hold their own unique draw.
Photo by @michaelclarkphoto // A long exposure image of Sol Duc Falls in Olympic National Park. The hike into Sol Duc Falls is only 0.8 miles and is relatively easy. The Falls are a huge attraction in Olympic National Park. For me, coming from New Mexico and it's dry desert landscapes the rain forest in Olympic is a wonderland of giant trees and intense green. #olympicnationalpark #washington #solducfalls
