It's time to renew this gem, and having to send it away even though just temporarily, gives me the worst separation anxiety. 🌎🌍🌏 #fragile #handlewithcare

When I was a young girl, I loved hurricanes. Amidst my naive understanding, not being okay was never an option, and although the power would go out and some trees would come tumbling down, what it meant to me at the time was no more than cozy week-long forts in the living room.

Today, I understand the world differently, simply because it's not the same as it used to be. And I'm going to lay it out plain and simple:
I don't care who you are, where you come from, what or who you believe in, global warming is real, and it's here.

While it's not the direct cause of sweeping forest fires or multiple devastating hurricanes forming in the Atlantic (more than ever before recorded in history), it is the cause of the forces behind these phenomena. Irma is able to move so strongly across a vast ocean because the water is hotter than it's supposed to be, which is fuel for hurricanes and tornadoes. A fire catches and spreads almost instantly because 100+ degree temperatures occur during fall in the Pacific NW.
This is not normal. Warming temperatures are horrific. Take away the words global warming or whatever label you refuse to believe, and take a close look at your earth and ask yourself, really dig deep and wake up: IS THIS HOW IT OUGHT TO BE?

The Gorge has always been a place for me to meditate, get space, find peace and be with my thoughts.
Incredibly heartbroken to know it will likely never be the same.

Stay safe, everyone. 💔

Give me adventure, again, and again, and again, until my legs ache and my lungs burn, and I know every single road home.
