Noemie Sebayashi—the 27-year-old founder of Paris-based unisex streetwear label Natto Franco—is turning heads as she carves a very specific niche in a market bulging with a number of both low and high-end streetwear lines. “I’ve seen small brands with a lot of creativity getting ripped off by others. It’s sad but that makes me think about how I could be more unique, so someone can’t just pick something up and replicate it.” 📸/styling @juliannmccandless

David “Campa” Singer-Vine (formerly of The Cataracs), and Lisa Vitale, AKA Lisa Terror, are the two halves of dance-pop duo Terror Jr. They first appeared on the national stage through one of those too-good-to-be-true internet fairytales; in 2016, @kyliejenner used the group’s song “3 Strikes” in a commercial for her lip gloss, sending fans on a wild hunt to find out more about whoever was responsible for its bleeding-edge millennial-friendly electro-pop.

Although tired of having to constantly explain racism in America, comedian Hari Kondabolu continues raise a fist—because someone has to: “As a person of color, you are forced to humanize white people: you’re forced to understand their lives, their stories, their complications, their culture. You have to! Not only for survival, but also to just enjoy anything. Meanwhile, if there’s a person of color in a movie, and it was originally thought to be a white character and it’s now a person of color, everyone flips out."

Chilean actress Daniela Vega is the Hollywood hopeful in this year’s #AFantasticWoman, a stylish noir-inspired coming-of-age story, and her country’s entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. A trans woman herself (as is the character she plays), Vega describes the film as “a movie within another movie,” the culmination of both her character’s journey of self-discovery and her own as an artist.

Gone are the days of stuffy men’s suiting. In its place, a freer, younger, more natural approach to formalwear that doesn’t feel so buttoned-up.

Hong Chau recounted her family’s journey among the Vietnamese boat people, refugees who escaped the postwar chaos of the late ’70s, only to die by the hundreds of thousands at sea. Chau's family survived the harrowing ordeal and now the actress is rising to great heights. “Giving people the opportunity to sit in a dark theater together and have emotions in public, whether they’re laughing or crying— that’s what makes me happy," she says, ahead of the premiere of her new movie, @downsizingfilm.

Thanks in part to our evergreen fascination with serial killers, @mindhunter has found great success. #JonathanGroff, star of David Fincher’s ingenious true crime series, threw himself into the role headfirst. “One of the big questions of the show is can you fake empathy to try to understand people who are deplorable and subhuman, and what is the cost of that. I think that is a question we are still asking ourselves today in a million different ways,” he says. 📸 @mrwhite_ Styling @xgabriela

Known widely for his role as Luke Skywalker in the generation-defining @starwars franchise, Mark Hamill recalls how the first film almost didn’t happen: “George [Lucas] referred to it as the most expensive low-budget movie ever made. At one point, Fox screened raw footage to some people, because they needed more money to finish it. Imagine it with no effects, no music, no nothing. The general consensus, because it played so horribly, was that they should just shut it down and take a tax loss.”

It takes a strong actor to hold their own on screen alongside heavyweights like Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell. Yet in the new psychological thriller, “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” 15-year-old #RaffeyCassidy turns it up to 11 as the coquettish daughter of a reckless surgeon.

Taiwanese performance artist Tehching Hsieh has made masterpieces out of restrictive conditions and grueling situations. More recently, he confines his practice to archiving and showing his prolific body of master works. One such exhibition occurred at this year’s Venice Biennale, which introduced his year-long experiments to a whole new generation perhaps even more shocked than their predecessors by voluntary self-abnegation. This past summer, Hsieh stopped by the apartment of his friend and admirer Marina Abramovic to talk about everything from patience to painting. 📸 @mattmullen16

Just 32 years old, prolific painter Cy Gavin is gearing up for three separate exhibitions. The first: his debut European solo show at VNH Gallery in Paris, then Gavin’s off to display his nocturne paintings in a group show at Mass MoCA, and that’s followed by another exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art. In his upcoming work, he's tackling the "relationships people have with land and I’m thinking about colonization, and space and the experiences people have in that space." 📸 @dukeydooks_canvas

You might recognize Barry Keoghan from his most recent projects, Christopher Nolan’s WWII blockbuster “Dunkirk,” and psychological horror film, “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.” Next up, the Irish actor and boxer appears in Bart Layton’s heist film “American Animals.” But Keoghan is wary of letting success get to his head. "This industry can take you in and spit you out. It’s overwhelming. But I keep my feet on the ground, my Air Max on the gravel.”

Actress and first-time director #GretaGerwig talks to Francis Ford Coppola about her Sam Shepard phase: “I think the problem with growing up and idealizing self-destructive artists is that you only see the beauty they created rather than all the pain that went along with it. But then I read Joan Didion, and it was the first time I’d read something by an artist—a great artist—who was working in the same place I was from and writing about it, and it was the first inkling I had that maybe I didn’t need to be a different person in order to make something that was worth anything.”

“We’re in positions where people ask us questions; they want to know about more than just the work. And it can go into areas where I’ve completely shot my mouth off, whether it’s too much about my private life or being too opinionated about things in the world. I think the better thing to do—I’ve learned this from people far wiser than me—is to do very good, quiet work behind closed doors.” #BenedictCumberbatch speaks to #ThomYorke about getting in trouble.
