She’s not always that sassy, guys, don’t worry. 😉
This is exactly how I feel about waking up sick still. 😂😉
Starting the day off right with this munchkin and his rad parents in the studio.

I got home tonight and the first thing my husband said to me was “why in the world do you have so many leaves in your hair?!?”
Hearing that the Triple Rock is closing is a real nostalgia gut punch. So many incredible memories in that space and my brain is on hyperdrive thinking of all of them.

After weeks of fighting it the fall cold finally caught up to me and I'm walking around in a fog today. Luckily, through pure calendar magic, I was able to reschedule everything today, and some of tomorrow, so I can take it a little bit easier. 😷
These guys are hanging out with their shadows over on the portrait blog today.
I had a dream about my favorite volcano last night, which must mean it's time for another pilgrimage very soon.
The elusive Greater Minneapolis Leaf Deer, finally photographed. 😉🦌
About to head out for 6 photo shoots today and this is what I feel like at home this morning. A little mini-meditation. And lots of coffee. #balance? 😉 Can't wait to see you all!
Do you think Henry KNEW he was flippin' me the bird?? I mean, it kind of feels like it, doesn't it? 😂😂😂Happy Friday, friends. 😉

Kids + Nature = Fave Combo 🐞
I spent the night walking around our little neighborhood with my husband (I still stumble over that word!), talking about life and dreaming about the future. This photo was taken in Monterey Bay, on a similar walk + dream on our honeymoon, and I was reminded again last night how important it is to take that time.

For a long time, under the premise and business guidance of "specialize! find your niche! you can't do it all! people need to know what box to put you in!" this instagram feed, and my photographic life in general, has been All Kids All The Time. While kiddos and families make up a large portion of what I spend my time photographing, since I decided to only show that work it's always felt like only half of the story, and I know there's been a disconnect for other people that know me well or that I've worked with, as well.

I'm definitely the girl that gets to photograph the cutest kids in town, and I absolutely love that more than I could ever convey, but I'm also the girl that has spent 15 years photographing musicians, and started a concert series because of the pure love I have for live music. I'm also definitely the girl that feels most content on the water, kayaking around looking for wildlife, or the girl that jumps into her car and drives across the country on a whim. Under this current political climate, as well, I know that I have more stories to dive into and more images to create that dive deeper into who I am as a person and as a photographer, and I want the space to be able to do that.
All of these images have existed separately for so long, on separate websites, under separate brands + names, or completely hidden on hard drives, never to be seen because they didn't fall into a very specific category that I thought I had to put out into the world. When I started putting them together, side-by-side, and saw how they flowed together in this perfect way I instantly felt like the images I've been taking for 15 years really best represent who I am and how I see the world when they coexist; categories and boxes, be damned.

When I got married this year I added my husband, Jeff's, last name to mine and in a thousand ways it felt like the very perfect time + opportunity to put this new identity out into the world, with the images that I love most, under this new name that I'm honored and excited to fully embrace.
Thanks for listening + looking + being part of this adventure + letting me be SO self-indulgent on a Monday morning,
Sara Montour Lewis
Having a hard time shutting my brain off after a long, but uplifting week of so many photo shoots. Fall is such a mad dash of insanity as I'm taking thousands of photos a week and trying to keep up with everything. It's the most overwhelming time of year, but also the most inspiring, and this year I feel more ready for it than ever.
I am excited for an unexpected day off tomorrow, though, where our only plans are to make coffee in the morning and then kayak our hearts out all day.
Happy Friday, friends. 💚
