My first attempt at tummy time ended up like this...bottoms up!🤣
When seester comes to visit, and we can't really go anywhere because we have a newborn, we feast on crab (and crab-gut kochujiang rice, and garlic noodles). 😊
Meet baby Lily. She arrived right after midnight on 10/2. I was a little apprehensive about being a girl mom, but 4 days in, and I love it (clusterfeeding and all). Welcome to the family, Lillian Jayne Kao!
Last week was my frenzied nesting week, where I frantically tried to prep for baby. We're splitting our spare room into a guest room/nursery, so we have limited space to work with (darn queen bed, as you can see from this pic). Am trying my best, given the parameters, but it's kind of hard. Good thing the baby won't care!
We have been so fortunate to have generous friends and neighbors that have provided for our baby needs. When Elliot was born, one of our neighbors lent us their fancy bassinet. For baby Lilian, I was worried we wouldn't have a bassinet, but I guess you could say that God provides! Our next door neighbor was literally about to load this bassinet in her car to donate, but she happened to see Jeff in our garage, and ended up giving it to us instead. It made my day! Also, I couldn't resist making some sheets for it 😊
Made Elliot's old hand-me-down burp cloths a little prettier for baby sister. She deserves some cute things too :)
What a great night for the drive in movies! So glad we finally got to check it out 😊
Today, I learned how to sew crib sheets! 😊
Road trips make me want to knit. So baby Lilian benefits from these past two weekends, where we spent a lot of time driving in the car and mama had extended time to knit. Apparently purples are her color 😉
seeing the total eclipse was amazing. not sure how to categorize it in the life experiences bucket but it was TOTALITY worth the drive 😉. The third pic and vid at the end here shows what it looked like during totality. (also, sorry for the flipped vid - couldn't figure out how to rotate it...)
Threw a fit because I wouldn't let him bring his 'hat' downstairs. Guess who caved in? 😂
so thankful for the friends who showered baby Lilian and me with such love today! ☺️
Elliot's first time walking on sand. He threw a fit after his feet got wet and he walked 5 steps in the sand because...well now, his feet were dirty 🙄
didn't actually get to walk around much at the top of the mountain bc of storm warnings, but we got to watch some pretty fearless mountain bikers cruise down. and also, we randomly bumped into my high school church friend from boston today. pretty neat bc we haven't seen each other for 10+ years!
Is it ironic that we live right near an In-N-Out, but the only time we ever go is when we're in Cali?
The Great British Baking Show inspired us to make Mary Berry's baked Alaska. I think it was a success!
#tbt this exact time last year when we went to Glacier and fell in love with Montana. 😊It was the best trip ever, despite issues with inflamed knees, boots that were literally falling apart and a trip to the podunk ER. Hoping one day we can make it back there!
First time forward facing in the car, and he kept saying 'Look! Look!' and pointing at all the stuff he could see from his new view
Made my own watermelon sherbet with chocolate chips. It's pretty refreshing (although I kinda did wish it had the lemon and lime sherbet like the Friendly's wattamelon roll does)! Recipe courtesy of Allrecipes.
Jeff's first time blueberry picking - he found all the small berries, and my dad and I found the fat ones! Also couldn't pass up flat bread with farm raised strawberries, and black raspberry ice cream while we were there 😋
