It’s easy to resent parts of our body and think that we are the problem. You MUST remember, you are not the problem. Your body is not a problem.

The culture we live in is the problem.

Relieve yourself of the blame. Channel that anger into fighting back against the system and liberate yourself from the cage of diet culture.

Have compassion for yourself for trying to exist in a culture that’s constantly telling you that you are not good enough. 🔥You are good enough.🔥

In the latest #fearlessrebelleradio episode with @dawn_serra, she talked about the most harmful narrative that we learn as it relates to pleasure and desire. She says the biggest problem is “a culture that teaches us that the answers are outside of ourselves.”

She goes on to say, “If we have to hinge our desirability on what other people think. If we have to measure our success based on other people’s stories of success. If we have to achieve goals based on what other people have told us are the marker of “good sex,” then we are constantly losing and constantly comparing.”

This is exactly why loosening the reigns around food and surrendering control is one of the hardest things to do. Because we believe the narratives we’ve learned from diet culture, we fear what’s going to happen.

We have no reference point for what life is like without dieting/fixating on our body, so we’re relying on all of the lies diet culture has taught us: that we can’t trust ourselves, that we’ll be miserable if we accept our body, etc.

This is a hell of a lot of fear and uncertainty to sit with. If that fear is holding you back, then I’ve got a helpful metaphor that might help you work through it. It’s on the blog this week.

Ok, we won't doing a hot air balloon ride at the retreat (mostly because I'm downright terrified of heights), but we'll wave to you from the deck if you want to take one. 🎈
