I had a thought when I saw this amazing image on @rizkiw_ ‘s stream.... I thought, I bet the people on my instagram not only know the name of the plant, but also the moth/butterfly.
Which I think is so completely fantastic. I ❤️ #naturenerd s
So I’ll kick it off, the plant is fittonia (a very cool houseplant that I recommend in terrariums). Your turn...the moth?

Does this seem off to you?
Yes, it is upside down... but I sort of like it even better this way. Beautiful autumn.

Look what I found over at the lovely @frylegarden. !!! .
She says it is a peat bed at the Gothenburg Botanical Gardens with massed plantings of Shortia and Berneuxia. ❤️❤️
I've never heard of these two plants and I'm not finding much online to enlighten me.
This is just beautiful and I'd love to recreate it, who knows about growing shortia and berneuxia? #shortia #botanicalgarden #berneuxiathibetica #autumngarden #autumncolors #gardendesign #garden #garten #jardin

Do you know what is meant of the term genius loci?
It is Latin and refers to the spirit of a place (both literal and figurative).
I'm kind of fixated on the subject lately (as I explore adding travel writing to my repertoire).
I'd love you to read my most recent post (about genius loci) at the website and tell me what you think.
Some say that if you were to remove a cultural group (for example the French) from their land (France) and replaced them with an entirely different cultural group (let's say the brits), that within a few generations, French culture would reemerge in the now British population (that is living in the French landscape). That this is the power of genius loci.
Are our landscapes that powerful??? I'd love to discuss and hear your thoughts.
Full post on website.
Ps this is from this summer, in the valtellina valley of Italy... an amazing place with an engulfing and captivating sense of place (genius loci). #genusloci #valtellina #italy

I've had this picture on my desktop for over a week. I found it in the Boston Globe archives. Not sure what fascinates me most, that kids went on a field trip to the public gardens to look at plants, or that those ferns are strategically placed in what is described as a huge mass of pansies.
I want more of both- kids field trips to gardens and fern/pansy spring combos.
And also, the date on this is June 20th 1926. Unfurled ferns and pansies in late June? #climatechange or wrong date??

Have you grown asiatic lilies?
I have but they never looked like this... The ones I grew were buggy and then 1975 called and wanted them back.
These are Asiatic lily apricot fudge and I am excited to be planting them in my garden. They are part of a package of bulbs that you can win for your garden. Today is the last day to enter the #giveaway (before midnight EST - link in bio).

What is meant by fall bulbs?
There are bulbs you plant in the fall - for spring bloom. (See the link in profile to win some to plant now!)
And then there are beautiful bulbs that bloom in the fall like these by @kewplantsman
I guess it means both...Which is your favorite? .

Anyone planting trees this glorious fall? It is a perfect time.
I've been coveting this tree for years.
I sooo want those little white bells.
It is Halesia - one of those trees you've never seen just randomly at the nursery.
An Impossible impulse buy...no this one is special, if I am going to have it, I'm going to have to really hunt.
Do you have anything this special in your garden?

Has anyone ever grown wasabi?
Odds are, if you haven't, you've never had the real thing.
Real wasabi can cost as much as $200/lb and its flavor significantly diminishes if not eaten within 15 min of its preparation.
Are you curious? Me too.
Thats why I want to grow it. Its tricky, so I've researched and written a guide that is new today at pithandvigor.com. 📷cokemomo

The chartreuse leaves were so eye catching and beautiful. I wonder if they were sick? Or if this is a feature of this lovely climbing rose?

My Italy trip was such a sensory overload experience. It is only through pictures that can I relish so many details.
Like this mosaic around the fountain at the Doge Palace in Genoa. It is beautiful.
I wonder, does it tell a story?

My driveway is over 100 ft long and as I turn into it, this is the focal point I see at the end.
A shining pink beacon at the end of the road.
This dahlia is THAT big.

I have to look up what variety I planted, if you want to know, I'll post in comments as soon as I figure it out.
