School Picture Day. They’re in an interesting place smile-wise these days. I never really know what I’m going to get when I ask for one. This is one of the many reason we opted not to order school pictures aside from a class shot. I couldn’t resist taking their picture this morning tho since they tolerated hair doing and non-sweatpants wearing so much better today than most days.

Life needs as many moments like this as one can find.

Ragamuffin Parade | All of the super sweet friends they have made in NYC is one of the biggest blessing in life right now. In our building and at their school they have met so many sweet, thoughtful, fun kids. It’s such a joy to watch. Here are just a few at our neighborhood parade this weekend.

From our trip last weekend to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. It’s hard to beat daddy’s lap and a dolphin show but we’ll see what we can do tomorrow.

My sweet boy. Six has been such a joy so far with him. He’s full of snuggles and kisses and I love you’s. He even agreed to take one - just one mama! - photo with me this weekend. 📷by my girlie

I don’t think anyone is more excited about a 3 day weekend than these kiddos!

Our Eric Carle Museum trip is on the blog (@erin.bambinitravel) if you want to know more. I think this is my favorite picture. I’m looking forward to another three day weekend soon!

Super Daddy taught both kids how to ride their bikes today! Some milestones - like their teeth falling out with all the wiggling and the blood and the eww - are not my favorite but this one was so much fun to watch.

She announced this afternoon after three weeks of school that she misses him. In a fit of sobs she told me that she never ever sees him and that she doesn't get to play with him enough anymore. My attempts at comforting her didn't help much but he told me he knew how to handle this. He held her hand for a while and then taught her a goofy game. Later when we got home he asked me to print out a picture of himself. He took it, wrote "I love you" on it and hid it in her backpack. "That way," he explained "when she misses me she can sneak this into her desk and peek at me and know I love her."

No Tuesday morning walk to school is complete without bunny ears, a baby seahorse or this smile.

Monday's are always hard but especially after a 4 day weekend. On the other hand I wouldn't trade two extra days of adventuring with these guys. In four days we crammed in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the Eric Carle Museum, soccer, 2 birthday parties, first week back at Sunday School, grown ups only brunch date, lots of book reading, and pumpkin chocolate chip bread baking.

I have a new love. All summer I had the Eric Carle Museum on our list of places to go but life got busy with trips and friends to see and if I'm being honest it's a drive and I was kind of dreading that part. But oh my! We finally drove up today (7 total hours in the car today y'all I'm so tired) - it was so worth it. The art studio was our first stop and I think all three of us could have spent the whole day there. I'll be dreaming about that space with its light and space and color....

Well a four day weekend this early in the school day certainly isn't helping with our routine building or schedule adjusting but who would turn down extra time for adventures with these two?

Rhythm. Order. Schedule. I thrive on these things. I love to do impulsive things, but for me that is only possible when life has an established rhythm. Working on re-finding ours now. PS. Their swim teacher treads water for 30 minutes straight during their swim lesson. I'm in complete awe.
