The beginnings of a vision board for my 2018 art goals and plans. Admittedly I am scaling back on my art goals next yearβ€” I can't dedicate as much time to my work as I used to when I was a fulltime freelance artist because of #adulting and #responsibilities that keep my plate full πŸ˜• but I pray that hopefully, my plans be aligned with God's plans for me, whatever His plans are.

Part of being in ministry is not just focusing on your relationship with God, but also on your relationships with others. As someone who likes her solitude (too much), this is challenging for me especially when I became involved in community (@wednesdayfeastfestivalalabang). Eeek, people 😱😱😱
.
I quite regularly give my time to people by talking with them 1-on-1 when needed (usually when they need bullying, err, I mean love and encouragement πŸ‘ŠπŸΌ #toughlove). But it's also nice when sometimes I'm the one who needs a 1-on-1 session and I get to hear what I need to hear from others ☺️

My sketchbook (currently on sketchbook #4) has been evolving and turning more into an art journal. Some would also consider it as a bullet journal. I'm not sure this is the direction I want my sketchbook to be going, but this is what comes out when I sit down to draw πŸ˜…

I truly believe that the starving artist stereotype is just a stereotype, especially in today's day and age. There are so many opportunities for artists today to earn money with their art, and there is no better time for one to be an artist, especially with the Internet.
.
I will be sharing how I've been selling my art on microstock sites, print-on-demand, and design marketplaces, earning me over P100,000 on the side in super passive income while I pursue other things. I'll be teaching tips and tricks, creative mindsets, positioning your art for trends, and social media techniques to get views and sales. If you'd like to get started on selling your art online, this seminar is for you. But do take noteβ€” this is NOT a get-rich-quick scheme, nor is it actually passive work especially in the beginning. BUT this is a LONG-TERM setup and if you start now, you will still be earning with your art years and years from now and you'll be glad you started today.
.
This seminar is best for graphic designers, illustrators, and artists who work and paint using traditional or digital media and have working knowledge of Photoshop.

Don't you have times in your life where you go, hey... this has happened before... different circumstances, different people, but essentially the same situation?
.
Sometimes what keeps us in the same repeating loop is our own negative habits and thought patterns. If we can just identify what we're doing wrong and make the changes that we need to, we can end the cycle and receive our breakthrough.
.
May we receive the wisdom, discernment, and enlightenment we need to learn the lessons we need to learn to break out of the loop and move forward πŸ™πŸΌ

Sketchbook spread. Admittedly I haven't been putting in as much work as I want to in my sketchbook. Been busy. Need to take a breather, refocus, and put my priorities back in order. The sketchbook, which I've committed to, should still be on top of my list and everything else should follow :)

Before I became an illustrator, I was a graphic designer. Design was my strong suit; my first love. I started playing around with Photoshop as a teenager; initially with Photoshop 4.5. That led to me doing graphic design professionally for 7 years before I shifted to a career in illustration.
.
Even as an illustrator, there were times I needed to do graphic design for a client, even though I tried hard to get rid of my graphic designer hat and stopped advertising myself as a designer. You see, graphic design is ever present, especially in this modern world where there's a need to present information in a visually-concise manner, and this seminar aims to teach you to do just that... even if you're not a designer or don't have Photoshop.
.
As a former Graphics Ministry head in my church community, I teach basic graphic design principles to my ministry-mates-- most of whom are engineers, IT specialists, accountants, marketers, and managers in the secular world-- to equip them with a working knowledge of how to effectively design graphics for social media, video, and print... even if they're not designers.
.
This seminar is best for non-creatives (or even creatives who want to brush up on design basics!) who are looking to learn what makes a design effective, and want to apply what they learn in their small businesses, or for their presentations at the office. This seminar is also ideal for those who have an interest in graphic design and want to explore if this path is right for them.

Using my sketchbook to document my day. Took a weekday off to indulge in lunch by myself (while musing how there are people who can't eat by themselves in public and how I sometimes get weird looks from people when I eat solo), get coffee, and get a haircut that ended up too short (again) because I wasn't paying attention and was busy with my phone πŸ’‡πŸ»

Wise words from Ira Glass on storytelling. Very much applicable in the process of finding your art style: it is only by doing a lot of work do you get closer to having an evident, consistent style πŸ’ͺ🏼

Life happens. Coffee helps. Have a great week ahead! Happy to get back into more regular sketchbooking, little by little :)
At the start of the year I made a vision board of my 2017 plans. One of my plans was to give seminars or workshops this year. Well, these are my participants for the Art + Passive Income seminar (my first!) that I gave last Saturday. Waaaaa! Thank you guys! Hope you learned new things and that you're empowered to create art with all the opportunities the Internet has for us in mind, and to think beyond the starving artist stereotype :)))) No to stress! πŸ˜‚
.
Thank you to Jelena (@bluelela) for sharing with me her insights and experience, and to my friend Regie (@regie.ph) for his help and advice prior to and post-event :D
.
And thank You Lord, for blessing me with the skills and talents that I haveβ€” may I share more of what I have and know with others. To God be the glory πŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸΌ

Test prints for potential postcards, some with art from my sketchbook, and some featuring my digital illustrations.
.
I have sooooo many ideas and side projects like this but as a freelancer, I wear so many hats (illustrator, graphic designer, product designer, videographer, video editor, social media manager, website admin, and I haven't even gotten started on blogging, email marketing, e-commerce, SEO, product packager, etc.).
.
It takes me a while to launch my projects simply because there's so many things to do and I can't do them all at once. But I'm hoping (*fingers crossed*) to at least launch some postcards for sale within the next 47 years πŸ˜†
