#GivingTurtleTuesday Marian is a juvenile Green Sea Turtle that was found by a scuba diver at Phil Foster Park. The turtle had several monofilament lines (fishing lines) coming out of the right side of the mouth and wrapping under the neck connecting to a constriction around the left flipper. The line coming out of the mouth acted like a saw, and cut through the tissue and jaw bone. Marian has recovered and was released home just last week, Nov. 8. Help LMC send more turtles back to their ocean home! Visit marinelife.org/help #givingtuesday #seasonofsmiles #loggerheadmarinelifecenter

#NoStrawNovember About 500 million straws are used and disposed of each day in the U.S. with a portion of them ending up in the ocean. Straws are one of the top items found at beach clean-ups. They are not biodegradable and are made to last forever. This month make the commitment to skip the straw, buy a reusable straw and tell your waiters "no straw, please." #StopSucking #Saynotostraws #NoStrawNovember #PlasticPollutes #NoPlasticStraws

We are truly inspired by the work of our Ninth Annual Go Blue Awards winners, finalists and keynote speaker Brian Skerry! An esteemed panel of judges selected winners in five different categories. Congratulations to Ted Turner, Linda Cabot, Mikki McComb-Kobza, Olivia and Carter Ries and The Scuba Club for winning their respective categories. We are honored to have the opportunity to recognize all of the finalists and winners for their accomplishments in ocean conservation. We want to thank our keynote speaker, @brianskerry, for his eyeopening presentation. We were honored to have him share his incredible journey with us. A special thank you to everyone who attended the luncheon. Of course, we'd like to say a big thank you to all of our generous sponsors; this would not be possible without them. Check out the whole album of photos on our Facebook page. #GoBlueAwards #GoBlue
