We’ve been making some serious homesteading headway at Rancho De Guy - Artichokes have been successfully planted on the ridge and tomorrow I’ll be transplanting cold crop seedlings into their raised beds (Ps: 8x12 greenhouse is being built in the coming weeks - Eeeeeeee!). Feels good to get these hands dirty and enjoying the outdoors. Hope you’re doing the same this weekend! 🙌🏻🌱#urbangardening

It might be raining in LA today, but cold brew coffee is on tap year long at our house...aaaaand because it’s the weekend we’re spiking ours with smoky mezcal and homemade horchata - In a word: YUM.

Back in the studio after an extended holiday break! Feels so good to be getting on top of my first projects of the year...and I still think the after-mess is a beautiful thing...until it comes time to washing all the dishes 🤣✨

This is the first Saturday that felt like a care free weekend in a looooong while - what better way to celebrate with a FATTOUSH-Y SALAD at @botanicafood and a beet cilantro mezcal cocktail to wash it down with (PS: definitely grabbed a few bottles of natural wine for the week ahead) Happy weekending to you!! Lots of house projects on the list for tomorrow - what will you get up to?! May there be a wine happy hour in your future to celebrate them too🎨🍷🌿

100+ sq feet of garden plots finally prepped and ready in the back yard - needless to say I am overly enthusiastic with winter plans having seeded 21 heirloom varieties from @bakercreekseeds ... now all sprouted and ready for transplant next week!!! In fact I’m sooo enthusiastic that today they all got hand stamped copper ID tags... because they’re worth it!! ( #gardennerd ) 🤗💆🏼‍♀️🌿✨👩🏼‍🌾

Sneaking in a few shoots between time off and found myself infusing Winter flavors into Spring recipes - either I’m seasonally confused or I’m really onto something. Either way rosemary simple syrup is on the docket for next season’s tequila cocktails... and for the win! 😉🍹

DESIGN BITE: It takes 30 roses to cover one square foot - and each year the Rose Parade uses approximately 18 MILLION flowers. Woah!
______________________________________________________________ I can’t believe I’ve never gone to see the floats up close in person! The details, the texture and the colors don’t do justice on your television...let alone the smells! Seeing the grass “hair” move in the breeze and studying each mix of botanical materials was so unique and creative - this float was definitely one of my favorites and has me incredibly excited to kick off this new year refreshed and inspired by nature - In fact, I think I’m going to volunteer next year to help make one of these floats!! 🙌🏻🌸💕

Wudda year you were 2017...😳 It was kind of a whirl for me personally and zipped by a little too fast. But an amazing year professionally as a self employed creative... But I definitely still get those gut checks of “what the heck am I doing with my life?!” Counting on 2018 to bring more personal fulfillment that can perhaps intertwine with the client work I mostly share with you here - like those pink oyster mushrooms in the middle I grew on a lark just to see if I could do it and the outcome was just so satisfyingly beautiful (and delicious). I hope the new year gives you encouragement to grow/make things for yourself too, speaking of I’m going to get back to tending to my winter garden - HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS! 🙌🏻✨💕
Let’s face it, wine charms are...well, ugly. 👎🏻But that doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice sipping style - plus it’s not too late to get crafty before NYE! So grab a few supplies and snip some festive branches for an easy yet elegant DIY - details below! 🔨
• Copper crafting coins (with hole)
• Fine copper wire
• Leather/metal alphabet stamps
• Crafting anvil
• Rubber mallet • Small branches/ blooms

Place copper coin onto anvil and emboss words of choice with letter stamp and mallet. Loop wire through coin hole and wrap around steam ware with a mini bouquet - ta daaaaa! ✨🍷

<SWIPE!> This NYE we are making a cocktail that matches the cocktail napkins! A blood orange cardamom punch with homemade edible gold confetti - because why not go boldly beautiful to ring in the new year?!! Grab the recipe and how to in the bio link ✨✨@papyrus #artofpapyrus #spon
I’m pretty sure that bubble and squeak is the best idea for breakfast OR dinner this week - I make mine a little untraditionally and stuff little ramekins with all the savory leftovers add in a tiny bit of broth, some fresh thyme or sage and a whole lot of shredded cheese for a really simple very delicious little hot pot...because that’s the best part about this rules! 😘✨

Still my favorite last minute holiday DIY l’ve wrangled for @hgtv - wool yarn stretched between two small wood dowels to create a woven tapestry-like table runner. Low on cost so you don’t have to worry about gravy spills - so go dig out your craft supplies and get goin’ - game time! 😬❤️🎄
A little PSA that it’s not too late for extra special holiday cheer - and by cheer I mean making mini punch bowl ice cubes using small bundt cake molds and whatever citrus and whole spices you have around the house. Just freeze the night before and add to your cocktail of choice...or sparking water for that matter - because going extra should be easy!!! 💃😘💕❄️🔥

I had a dream earlier this year that I could turn a massive gingerbread cookie into a winter solstice advent candle lit centerpiece ... somehow it really happened. It’s 3-dimensional, totally /almost edible (because candles & flowers obvi) and ready for you to make - who’s game?! Would be perfect for Christmas day too...just saying - cookie on fire!!! ______________________________________________

It dropped below 60 degrees today in Los Angeles which means our noses feel chilly and I think that’s finally an excuse for coconut matcha russians...yeah you heard that right! ❄️🍵❄️ Recipe is up on @worldmarket blog if you’re thirsty!

T-minus: icing, baking, mashed potato making.... it’s about to get full tilt!! Looking forward to wrapping up the last three work shoots of the year tomorrow so I can get down to some real deal holly jolly off the clock R&R (even if that means more cooking - but at least I don’t have to photograph it🤣)!

We call the lower 3/4 of our yard “The Wild West” - which is appropriate since nothing has really been done back there since the house was built in 1958 - and nothing seems to grow there with much ease 😰(we find A LOT of strange buried “treasures” - in fact our property was once the tennis court to the neighboring 95 year old home). ______________________________________________________________Thrilled that this weekend was the first step in our first year living here to turn it into the urban garden/orchard we’ve been dreaming of. Doesn’t look like much yet (ps: that’s 900 cubic feet - aka 3000 lbs - of soil hand carried up steps) 😳💦@gabrielguy earned hero status today because I was only pulling soil bags in my wagon to the beds once he carted them alllll the way up top to the backyard. Here’s to officially plotting the winter garden...the first of many to come! 🙌🏻🌿🍆🥦🍠
