I have struggled with fairly severe anxiety my entire life—in fact, I can pinpoint the first time I realized I was having an anxiety attack, when I was 11 years old. When I was younger, I tried to push it down and act like everything was perfect and wonderful all the time; nowadays, I know I need to deal with it, and therapy and writing help a lot. (My dad is a therapist, too, so the value of it has been ingrained in me from a very young age, and when I realized I needed to go, I never felt bad or scared. I wish everyone’s experience could be like that.) I know a lot of you deal with this as well, and current events are not making it any easier, so on #worldmentalhealth day I just wanted to tell everyone who’s also fighting a battle with anxiety—or working on their mental health in any way—that I see you and am sending a virtual hug. ❤️🌻
With everything going on in our country these days, life has felt so dark. But this pink sky sure reminded me how beautiful the world can be.
Our little six-year-old neighbor was desperate for Rambo to fetch a stick for her, and even gave us several she’d picked out for him to play with, but he doesn’t really do that—he prefers to chase lizards. So she made him a lizard out of sticks (complete with green paint and googly eyes), and it is the cutest, sweetest thing I’ve seen in a long time. We are living in dark times, friends, but gestures like this make you remember the light. 💚🦎
