These amazing things are chanting guides for Buddhist monks, sinuous paths along which to slide ones voice across a given chant. I didn’t write down the exact name for these scrolls, or the date they were created, but I was absolutely mesmerized by their beauty: like horizontal strips of clouds shrouding a mountain peak, like the cloud bands found for centuries in Himalayan art, eventually making their way into Persian and Turkish carpets. It was like seeing earth and sky united by the trills and hums of a human voice. I hadn’t been to the Rubin Museum in years, but you need only sit in the Ohm room (thousands of visitors’ voices chanting “ohm,” recorded and blended together, played in surround sound in a room of the museum) to feel political madness and daily stress of living lift for a few minutes from your shoulders. @rubinmuseum

If, like me, you have always been a plant-based vegetarian, and have always been bored by the meat-centric and brownish tones of the thanksgiving table, lament no more! There’s a fun little feature @vogueliving_us right now with recipes from some of Los Angeles’ best veggie centric restaurants, like these pomegranate glazed vegetables from @crossroadskitchen (photo from vogue)

Flowers from mon ❤️ to celebrate the eighth anniversary of our first date. In a way it’s gone by quickly. On the other hand, so much has happened in our lives and in the world since then that I can hardly believe it’s only been eight years!

Travel desk! Genius! Why doesn’t someone make this exact same thing in wood for small apartments?! A little chest that pops open into a handy little writing desk??

“Autumn in New York, why does it seem so inviting? ... Glittering crowds and shimmering clouds in canyons of steel/They're making me feel I'm home.”

The window is completely off on the top floor of the building in the middle of the photo. A construction worker in an orange sweatshirt is doing work in the window frame. He was not wearing a harness or any other protective device, and I can’t stop worrying whether he has health and disability insurance. #workersrights

This is what America looks like when Americans SHOW UP (to town halls, to their democratic duties including writing and calling their elected officials, running for office, and VOTING in local and state elections)! This is just a sample of what we have achieved: the First Sikh Mayor in US history, the first latinas in the Virginia State House, the first transgender state representative in US history, first trans person of color elected to a major city’s city council, the first African American mayor of Charlotte, NC. Reposted in part from @mxviv and @pro_choice 👌

This is the best day. I have been grinning from ear to ear everywhere I go. Be energized by the knowledge that your work is paying off, that showing up matters, and let this success inspire you to work even harder, recruit even more people into being active participants in our democracy #thefutureisfemale #resist

VOTE TODAY!!!! on average across the country less than 10% of people will vote in their local elections (nyc has a far higher voter turnout. Yay!). Don’t be one of them!

Consider going by foot through the park during your commute instead of taking a crosstown bus this week! Even on this dreary day, the leaves were brilliant and beautiful.

Back in New York, where the chrysanthemum at conservatory garden @centralparknyc is in full blown glory for a few more days.
