Who gets excited about a mess like this? I do! I’ve been eagerly waiting to see what “hulless” seeds look like from the Kakai pumpkin we grew. (See previous post) No shells! You can just eat these straight or roast them. Awesome!

Grew this daikon from saved seeds! And the seeds came from a another daikon top that my husband saved and grew in a pot. That plant grew tall and started flowering and going to seed. I almost threw it out but decided to just throw those seeds into a pot to see if they’d grow. And many months later, here they are! Time to make some soup!

Another Asian green I'm growing in the home kitchen garden. This is the Choho, a hybrid of Komatsuna and Tatsoi from @kitazawa_seed company. It's grew really fast and I really like the cute round leaves!

The bean plant that I planted back in June in a gorilla cart. One side is Dragon tongue beans and the other is Scarlett runner beans. And I used long twigs to make an arch for the beans to climb. I just love looking at it! Beans are so beautiful climbing up trellises and anything they can grab on to and they give you something to eat too!

Handing off this gai lan (Chinese broccoli) for the hubby to stir fry for lunch! This batch did really well under the shade cover that I made out of an old flat sheet with hula hoops as a frame. The sun was so intense this season!

Mustard green harvest today! I feel like the bugs don't "bug" these as much as the other Chinese veggies like the Chinese broccoli or napa cabbage. Maybe because the mustard greens are slightly bitter?

I'm in ❤ with these sunflowers! I grew these next to the corn and I thought they weren't gonna make it because they were getting chewed up by the resident grasshopper. But they persevered and now they're beautiful!

Found another chicken to play with! We went to the annual Silicon Valley Tour De Coop. About 31 chicken coops and gardens were on display for the public to visit and learn. The locations was spread mainly in the south bay. The owners were very gracious with some offering cookies, honey tasting and free lemons! We also saw bee hives, giant pumpkins, wine making machines, and even 3D printers demonstrated by the Alta Vista High School. Such a fun day!

First of my late summer Chinese greens. These are flowering brassica "Early Green" from Kitazawa Seed Company. They bolted from the heat wave but were still delicious stir fried. And they grew really fast too!
