As someone who rarely to never paints their nails, I am rather proud of these.

The lovely and wonderful @thejulietaylor asked what inspires me to perspire. I gave it some good thought on my hike this morning and there’s no single answer. I’ve exercised regularly for almost two solid years now. I do it at least in part for the quality alone time. I’m the introverted mother to a toddler barnacle (she just REALLY loves me) and a frighteningly outgoing middle child as well as their introverted-but-still-difficult brother. I *need* my alone time at the gym. It also works as an antidepressant. I tried a pill for mild baby blues a few years ago and immediately suffered horrific side effects before I ever saw the benefits. Exercise does the trick for me instead. Also, it’s gotten to the point now where I just plain enjoy it. I love pushing my body and lifting heavier and climbing higher and then looking back to see how far I’ve come. Regular exercise has become a good habit that has spurred more good habits and I’m addicted. #inspiredsweatyselfie
For some reason I thought summer break was 8 weeks but it's actually ELEVEN weeks and I am not handling the news well. Time for another kid-free vacation.
I set a goal this year to take Aaron on a surprise trip and I ALMOST succeeded (Google calendar betrayed me two weeks before we left). We spent a couple days in San Francisco then met some good friends for a few days in Tahoe. Every day was so so good, filled with yummy food and beautiful places, and we are sad to be heading home!
I hiked today for the first time in ages (freaking AZ heat). It was amazing
We should probably miss our kids at least a little bit but 🤷🏻‍♀️
There are whales in this picture. My day has officially been made.
I love San Francisco SO MUCH. Today was perfect- good food, good sites, and lots of quality spouse time with nooo children. Excited for more of the same tomorrow!
We passed several wildfires on the drive up to UT today but this one was nuts. Miles and miles of driving through thick yellow smoke and then this view from the other side 🙌🏼
One of my big goals for this year is to take this guy on a surprise trip. We are leaving in just a few weeks and he still has no idea where we are going! It's going to be so fun. (Pic from our trip to Hawaii last year 💜)

Sometimes May feels like August and we question our life choices 💀 But sometimes May feels like March and it's amazing and we go on long walks and hang out on the patio and talk about how AZ isn't THAT bad.

I have laundry to put away and the baby is wailing in her room because she doesn't feel like going to bed and I have like a million emails I need to respond to but I'm just going to sit here instead.
I'm one of those people who is a bit obnoxious about celebrating their own birthday in a loud and proud sort of way. I feel like I should probably be a bit more blasé about it (like my neighbor who came over for dinner on Monday and DIDN'T EVEN MENTION the fact that it was her birthday and we were feeding her her birthday dinner) but whatever. I freaking love my birthday and having a day to feel special and eat junk and make my husband do stuff I don't feel like doing. Birthdays are the best. I'm excited to see what 32 has in store for me! 🎂 🎉 ❤️

Parenting is spending $30 to take your kids to a carnival and leaving an hour later with 2/3 of them in tears because you won't spend another $30 on games so they can win a giant stuffed Pokémon 😎

I wish I could bottle up March and April and use it to get through July and August.
When I go to get her in the morning she greets me with, "Oh hello, Mommy!"
Good morning from the top of Camelback! I brought a flashlight this time and we made it to the top just in time for the sunrise 🙌🏼 Shawna and I have been friends since we were 14 and now she lives far away. It's been so fun hiking and eating pizza with her this week 💜
It was *really* dark this morning when I headed out to Usery. I kept checking my clock wondering if I somehow got confused and was going to start a hike at 3am. Note to self: the sun doesn't get up as early as you think it does. Bring a flashlight.
