Sewing again. This full-time job really gets in the way sometimes. Making a new/larger pouch for Finney to use as a diabetes kit. #typef1nn

Organizing fabric and projects to sell. It’s a daunting task, but worth it to get one step closer to getting Finney a diabetic alert dog! #typef1nn

My bionic boy! He got his constant glucose monitor (CGM) today and he is one happy kid. He only has to prick his finger twice a day now to calibrate the monitor. On some Dance days he would have to check his blood sugar more than 15 times. Now he will have it constantly monitored and we can see if he’s trending up or down and work to stop a scary blood sugar reading before he is sick. This couldn’t have come at a better time as Finney has been pretty emotional about his diagnosis lately. We’re so excited to take this next step and have better control of his care. Next stop: insulin pump!! #typef1nn

Baby Elephant is doing well. So is Finney. Followed up his first endocrine appointment with a blood draw to check his thyroid levels, which was zero he-almost-barfed-and-passed-out fun. After not wanting to give himself injections since being in the hospital, hours doctors have him insulin pens (an easier way to give insulin.) He feels empowered to do this. Even better news is that he also has orders for a Constant Glucose Monitor which, while attached to him, will measure his blood sugar constantly. We can follow along and get updates remotely through apps and he only has to do two finger pricks a day. This is a big step to giving him more autonomy and one step closer to an insulin pump. #typef1nn
One bottle of insulin expires a month after you first use it. His current need is little insulin because he's so active with dance and his pancreas is still shooting out some insulin here and there. This is what we'll throw away this month. Next month he may need more, he may need less. We'll find out with every finger prick, as it changes constantly. #typef1nn

Went to a training for Finney's teachers today and we used rubberbands to simulate all the pokes he gets throughout the day. My boy is a warrior. #typef1nn
This handsome boy will be coming to a stage near you as a party boy in this year's @balletarizona The Nutcracker. If you'd like to see a performance with him in it, let me know and I'll share his dates with you. #typef1nn

I'm also thinking about fundraising by selling fabric and donated goods (handmade or other.) If you can help or know someone who can, please pass it on!
