This is my most important pic. I visited the 9/11 memorial today. This Callery pear tree is known as the Survivor Tree. This tree was planted on the original World Trade Center plaza in the 1970s, and stood at the eastern edge of the site near Church Street. After 9/11, workers found the damaged tree, reduced to an 8 foot tall stump, in the wreckage at Ground Zero. It was nursed in a NYC park and grew back to 30 ft tall. In March 2010, the tree was uprooted by severe storms and had survived again. It was returned to the WTC site in December 2010 and embodies the story of survival and resilience that is so important to the history of 9/11. In the background is the Freedom Tower that is the WTC and biggest building in NYC in construction. IK this is a lot of info but I was moved by this. This photo was not edited one bit out of respect of what 9/11 stands for
