We’re happy to report our Pine Ridge Vineyards team is getting back to work! We couldn’t be more grateful to our first responders and community for keeping us safe and supporting us through the last week. We look forward to working with the rest of Napa and Sonoma to rebuild our beautiful and strong valleys!

Night harvesting Malbec, one of the earlier ripening Bordeaux varieties. Picking grapes at night when it's cool keeps the crew more comfortable and saves energy because there is no need pre-chill the grapes before they are crushed. Instead we let Nature’s refrigeration cool the grapes which keeps sugar levels stable and helps avoid oxidation and spoilage. #PineRidgeWine #EstataVineyard #stagsleapdistrict #Malbec #NightHarvest #Harvest2017 #ItsfromNapa #winegrowing #winemaking #vineyards #Viticulture #Sustainable #SustainableFarming

Zenon does the tedius work of tying the vines in Stags Leap District, Circle Hill Vineyard. Canopy management is a crucial exercise in the vineyard. Positioning the shoots to allow just the right amount of sunlight/shade and air on the grapes optimizes yield, reduces the risk of disease, and ensures the highest quality fruit in our Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon.
The first grapes in veraison at our home estate in Stags Leap District are Malbec. The recent hot weather may have helped speed up the ripening process.

By March pruning is nearing completion and we are anticipating bud break. Our vineyard manager tells us this is one of the most important activities that takes place in the vineyard because it sets the stage for the upcoming vintage and allows the crew the opportunity to inspect the vines for the upcoming growing season. Balance is key, determining the number of buds per cane means we will have a balanced, high-quality yield. Our crew has an intimate connection with the vines tailoring pruning details vine by vine with the goal of expressing the exceptional distinction of each site. #pineridgevineyards #stagsleapdistrict #pruningvineyards #terroir
