“How about this game, guys! Maya, you sit in that cool pink chair. Jilly, you try to push the car under the chair like a tunnel.” 😂
Question: is combining kids + wildlife too chaotic, or are you guys good with it? xo.

This guy wins the award today for “Most Chill In The Sun”. Haha. Check out my story for the winner of Least Chill In The Sun. 😂

How many eagles can you count. (Hint: WAY more than you think!) Jump back to my last post for more info.
I posted more images of the bald eagles in Red Wing on my blog (link in profile), along with a long-winded narrative + deep dive into life + using our talents to make positive change in the world. In keeping with that I’m also donating 20% of all print sales of these images to the @nationaleaglecenter just down river from where I took these photos, in Wabasha, MN.

I made an impromptu decision after I was done with my photo shoot today to run down to Red Wing to see if there were any bald eagles on the river. I was shocked to see hundreds lining the trees; definitely more than I’ve ever seen together before. I stayed until the light was gone (and so was the feeling in my fingers & toes) and I won’t soon forget it. Watching animals in the wild is is a meditation on its own and I hope to fill 2018 with many more moments like this.

Had to post one more of this kid, of course. 😂 Hope you all enjoy your weekend and take time to jump outside as often as possible!

I’m on aunt duty this morning while this munchkin’s dad is out of town and we had to jump outside for the frozen bubble experiment. It wasn’t quite cold enough (at -8f) for the perfect frozen bubble swirl, but still pretty fun. ❄️

I couldn’t possibly be more excited for the snow in Minneapolis today. 🙌🙌🙌 If you have kids that aren’t afraid of winter and love to go snowshoeing/ice climbing/surfing/dog-sledding/back yard snowboard jumping/ice skating/cross-country skiing/winter camping/ice fishing/sledding/basically anything outside where you get lost in nature in the peak of winter, send me a message because I would love to talk about the possibilities of starring your little winter nature lovers in a photo shoot or five. The crazier the better. ❄️

This time of year, when things slow down, I get to go through my deep archive of images to pull out some gems that may have been lost. Maybe it’s because we bought a sailboat this year, but this one caught my eye instantly and I can help but imagine sailing on The Sound with our little boat (and giant dogs).

Spending the morning sick in bed, but these two are keeping me company, so it’s not all bad. We’ll see how long it lasts before I get stir crazy and we go on an adventure outside.

My snowshoes are just sitting in a corner, hearing my stories of past years when there was actually useable snow. I wish we could trade in these sub-zero temps for a bomb cyclone. 😉

Today’s adventures found us wandering through a field of tall prairie grass as far as the eye could see, creating its own perfect horizon line. Early 2018 reminders to seek out beauty in the details.

Not quite ready to emerge from my hazy holiday hibernation yet, so I’m taking one more day to go explore around the winter wonderland, computer-free. Happy 2018, friends. 💛

I just posted a mega album of portraits from 2017 on Facebook. Jump on over there to relive this incredible year. If you were one of the 200+ families that I photographed this year, I’m endlessly thankful & honored to be able to tell your stories and preserve these memories for you and your families. 💛
