Always the amateur storm chaser, I had a blast shooting last weekend’s storm as it rolled in right as our volleyball tournament ended. Taken with my iPhone 6s. If you are wondering how many burst shots you have to take to get a number of decent ones… it’s in the thousands, not hundreds.
Totally worth it.

“Blue” was quite an appropriate @jjcommunity theme #jj_forum_1950 today for a number of reasons.
1. The obvious… red, white, and ____ Happy #4thofJuly friends!
2. The purely coincidental… right before I checked the theme, I became fascinated with the macro view of condensation on my Nalgene and how the morning light backlit it. Took my mind out of the stress loop I was stuck in and into a peaceful place to recharge.
3. The personal… I’ve had a particularly difficult week, so it describes one of the many different facets of emotions I’ve been going through.

These served as reminders I desperately needed:
* That even in the darkness, you can find hope, beauty, and proof that light is up ahead.
* Even when you’re 3 days on no sleep, you can discover inspiration and become recharged.
* Everyone has demons. You CAN and WILL stare them down and conquer them.
* It’s only once you face your fears that you can find what you are truly capable of.

Theme: Alone.
The most painful type of loneliness is the kind you feel surrounded by a crowd. Feeling smothered and tangled.
I'm grateful to say I haven't felt that feeling in quite some time, thanks to a wonderful and supportive group of friends.

All April showers did was bring May showers. It's been a wet, but awesome start to the sand volleyball season.

The theme is comfort. What makes you comfortable?
I'm comfortable behind a macro lens. Particularly after rain or morning dew. I will get covered in water and mud and bugs, not even noticing, just lost in the beauty in droplets.

I began my journey into black and white years ago when the @jjcommunity’s “jj themed challenges pushed me once a week into a style I didn’t feel particularly gifted or skilled in. It made me uncomfortable…. And then I began to LOVE it. I began to find the exhilaration in challenging myself more and more each day.

Because that’s the only way to grow. Change is painful. There are no shortcuts. And nothing compares to the feeling of accomplishing what once seemed impossible.

It’s utter insanity how long it’s been since I’ve posted a black and white. And honestly, it’s unacceptable.

Check out the experiments I used to do comparing color shots to their #bw counterparts at #mf_bw_vs_color. I love getting feedback and advice, as well as finding out which people prefer. I’ll post the color version of this shot sometime soon.
Today's theme is "Splendid Skies" and there have been incredible intries by my #JJCommunity family.

Appropriate since we've had so much rain lately…

Happy to have caught the tail end of this awesome giveaway by @lexarmemory hosted by @jjcommunity! #JJ_Forum_1889 #LexarMemoryMakers #ContestEntry

On 9/19/2015, I spent a nearly perfesct day with my parents hiking in Palmyra, WI.

Why wait so long to share? If you know me, you know I 've struggled with the pursuit of perfectionism in nearly all situations. Unattaiable perfection. I was afraid. There was so much pressure I put on myself.

I've devided that I need to start living, accepting that not much can be perfect, and realizing that sharing imperfections is what helps us grow. Imperfections, and the lessons learned through mistakes - those are what make you, you.

For now, I will keep this as one of my mantras: An experience with loved ones is more important than killing yourself to deliver perfection.
