This one right here. 12 years of being my constant, my greatest and truest allie, the one who loves me the fiercest and the deepest. Thank you for being my partner, my true north, my other half. I wouldn’t want it any other way. Each year just gets better and better, here’s to many more ❤️

Last week we took a little trip to Santa Cruz and had the most amazing time! The trip was completely spontaneous and we had nothing planned- this is 100% my love language by the way.

The kids were at grandma’s house for the weekend and our YWAM students were away in Yosemite- so we jumped at the chance to book a cheap hotel and explore a new city. The last time we went on a trip completely by ourselves was six years ago when I was pregnant with Liam! We love to get away but usually there’s little ones in tow or a nursing babe along for the ride.

I cannot tell you how happy this adventure made me and how timely it was for us. @aaron_m_ortega thank you for always being willing to explore new places with me ❤️

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving friends! We celebrated tonight with our amazing community over at @ywampismobeach (there are five Canadians in our group after all!) Insanely grateful doesn't even begin to cover it- I love my family, my tribe, the place we get to call home and the work we get to do.

Let the King of my heart be the wind inside my sails,
the anchor in the waves,
He is my song.
Let the King of my heart be the fire inside my veins
and the echo of my days,
He is my song.

One of my oldest and dearest friends reached out to me today and her kind and beautiful words cut to my heart and made me cry big, giant tears. You are not alone. You don't have to carry this by yourself. My heart is in pain with yours.

To those experiencing devastating loss today in the wake of tragedy, to those feeling heaviness, sorrow, sadness- You are not alone. You don't have to carry this by yourself. Our hearts are in pain with yours. ❤️ #vegasstrong

Plants are watered, bellies are full with sourdough bread, and little ones are napping. Sundays are my favorite 💛

"Speak to your children as if they are the wisest, kindest, most beautiful and magic humans on earth, for what they believe is what they will become."

"Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Such striving may seem admirable, but it is the way of foolishness. Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life. Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself." -William Martin

After a 25 month stretch of co-sleeping with Stella (something I have loved) she is now sleeping with the kids in their room! @aaron_m_ortega puts everyone to bed with a few requested songs on the ukulele, prayers and nighttime essential oils.
This leaves me with a few hours in the evening to myself which has been amazing! 🙌🏼✨
Knowing I have these extra hours in my day has let me pick back up a few things like my blog and taking on more photo sessions. It sure feels good to flex those creative muscles again.
All that to say, there are some really great things coming soon to the blog (including this dreamy shoot with @audreychastain and flowers by @stephaniewamble.) Is there anything you'd like to see? I'd love to hear from you!

"Practicing hospitality right where we are with the people we love is always a good place to start giving away our love. Especially when we use what we have and do with it what we can. Whether we use paper plates or fancy china, no one really cares what the place settings look like if a person is sitting where they're loved. It's a reminder to me that we buy the plates, but love sets the table."

I woke up a little extra early today to bake some sourdough bread before church. For lunch I served it with mashed avocado, mozzarella, pepperoni and basil. We ate this type of meal everyday when we lived in Chile (a traditional evening meal called once) and we may have just found a new Sunday tradition. 💛

"This is what I want you to do: I want you to tell someone you love them, and dinner's at six. I want you to throw open your front door and welcome the people you love into the inevitable mess with hugs and laughter. I want you to light a burner on the stove, to chop and stir and season with love and abandon. Begin with an onion and a drizzle of olive oil, and go from there, any one of a million different places, any one of a million different meals.

Gather the people you love around your table and feed them with love and honesty and creativity. Feed them with your hands and the flavors and smells that remind you of home and beauty and the best stories you've ever heard, the best stories you've ever lived." - Shauna Niequist

Yes. More of this please.
Here's to always opening our door and offering a place at our table. And here's one of the prettiest tables I have been at brilliantly put together by the talented @stephaniewamble in honor of @theunraveledwife's baby shower.

Sometimes you just need to simplify things and sometimes that means not updating your blog for over a year. It's been a good and needed break in a season of grounding and reordering but now I'm ready to come back! There's a new post up with photos from our Canada trip last month. Head on over and take a look // link in profile

"To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial. To be known and not loved is our greatest fear. But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God. It is what we need more than anything. It liberates us from pretense, humbles us, and strengthens us for any difficulty life can throw at us." - Timothy Keller
