Day 14: Hocus Pocus - magical books 🔮 I was going to go HP, but I thought I'd stray and use this one. There are a lot of magical elements that pop up into Rowan Mayfair's life. #thereadersbooknook

#thereadersbooknook Day 13: Friday the 13th - slashers/thrillers 💀 I loved this short story/thriller in We Live Inside You by Jeremy Robert Johnson. I thought it was really well done!

#thereadersbooknook Day 12: Witches brew - books and drinks. My husband's favorite mug on top of a stack of charity shop finds. Thanks to @0hfortheloveofbooks for tipping me off. 📚

Day 11 of #thereadersbooknook October challenge is "Dead, dead, dead, deadski" - character you wish survived. 🏹 SPOILER ALERT! . . . . . . Without saying too much, someone very close to the main character (Katniss Everdeen) is killed in Mockingjay and I wish they hadn't been. How's that for vague?! 😉 Didn't want to ruin it in case you plan on reading these.

#thereadersbooknook Day 10: Fall ball - fancy books 🌹Well hello there... here I am, sneaking in on day 10 of the October challenge. I'm sure I've used this copy in other challenges, but it's my favorite fancy book. It's such a nice edition and even boasts gilded pages.
Just a casual stroll up the driveway with the cat on a Tuesday afternoon.
#thereadersbooknook Day 1: Autumn reads TBR. So far I've only really committed to The Vampire Lestat by Anne Rice and Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King, but I have also started Diana Gabaldon's A Breath of Snow and Ashes. HAPPY OCTOBER!

#thereadersbooknook Day 30 📍September wrap up. I won't say I began and finished these in September- some of them I started in August, even if it was the last week. Truly began and finished in September were The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz, We Live Inside You by Jeremy Robert Johnson, and The Fireman by Joe Hill. Stephen King's 11/22/63 I began the last week of August and finished I think the first week in September. Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire I started in February and finished the last two pages this September 😂 something similar with Diana Gabaldon's The Fiery Cross. Either way, they're done now! ✅ I'm looking forward to October's challenge! I've already started Anne Rice's Lestat. (As of two days ago!)
#thereadersbooknook Day 29: Twinning - a character you can relate to. 📜 Ronald Weasley - he might not be the most clever, but he is loyal and tries to do right by his friends.

#thereadersbooknook Day 27: Joey doesn't share food - bookish snacks and Day 28: The movie was better, for once! I have to say that I'm cheating on this one. I loved Philippa Gregory's novel and I thought the movie was entertaining, too. So let's settle on 'I liked them both'! Also, as for snacks, I've eaten loads of apples and consumed loads of tea especially the past few months. 🍎☕️

#thereadersbooknook Day 26 🌵MEH - book you own but probably won't read. I really will read almost anything, so perhaps I'll pick this up one day, but Room definitely appears a 'meh' book to me. As for A Confederacy of Dunces, I have attempted this one.. I couldn't get into it. I do need to try it again, it's a Pulitzer Prize winner so I'm obviously missing something!

#thereadersbooknook Day 25- You should totally read this. My pick is Norman Mailer's The Naked and the Dead. @0hfortheloveofbooks and I read this in college for a course we had together and weren't expecting to like it as much as we did. It's so good.

#thereadersbooknook Day 24: Tea break - books and tea. 🗝 Had a lovely Sunday, wish it didn't have to end... ❤️ Excuse me while I tuck into this giant after dinner tea...

Day 23: It's not all doom and gloom... ok, maybe it is - post apocalyptic. 🔥 Okay, to be fair, I haven't finished this one yet.. but I'm enjoying it. I think The Fireman would be a great friend to have when the world goes down in flames...

#thereadersbooknook Day 22: Autumn Equinox - cozy books 🍁 I'm a day late on this one! I broke my streak! Cozy books, for me, seem to include a lot of places with gray skies, something we don't get a lot of in the "valley of the sun"! Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, and I'd add the A Song of Ice and Fire series as well. 🍂🍁☕️

#thereadersbooknook Day 21: Is it fall yet? - Orange books 🍁I have to say that I'm surprised I have so many! Also, I apparently still own two Spanish/English dictionaries and they are both also orange... but I didn't think they quite fit. 😉 Two of these are from my Asian Pacific American Studies courses in college. The Quietest Singing is a collection of pieces by recipients of the Hawai'i Award for Literature and really deserves a reread. It's one of those collections of works that really sticks with you. 🍂

#thereadersbooknook Day 19: I'm okay... I'm okay... scary books. 🕷I think Poe is probably the scariest work I own at the moment. Poe is a master! ☠️
