It’s no secret that I arrived kicking and screaming. “I spent a month there in high school”, I sassed, “Hawaii’s NOT as nice as people think...” 😳🤣😂🤣😂 (look, I was young and stayed in a small corner of Makaha where we never left, okay?!?! I’m sorry, you can kick my ass when you see me next). Six years later, it’s no surprise that if presented with the request to ever move, once again I’d leave kicking and screaming. With the sunrises and trade winds whipping through our single panel bungalow, Hawaii has quickly become our home — and I’ve grown to love the west side! 🤣 Where friends and professionals instantly became real ohana, where we learned to love raw fish, smoked octopus, and rice everything, reaching for the chopsticks over forks. Where you have expanded your softball community from the reaches of the Pacific and beyond and I’ve developed my business, ideas, ideals and creativity. Where the pups have grown to love the sea (some days) and my belly has grown overnight! The land where you have gotten a taste for gardening and have enjoyed the fruits of your labors! Papaya, anyone? Where we have laughed, cried and screamed bloody murder at one another and, on this desert island, far from anyone we knew, have strengthened our marriage ten fold. If it wasn’t for a change such as this I️ may not have wound up straight into the arms of Jesus, either. 🙌🏻 Our desire for adventure may take us off this rock here and there and weeks may go by where we don’t even see the beach across the street, but we’ve got a lot to thank Oahu for (and, Kauai cause, you know, 👶🏼) and let it be known: you were right @woodrow34. I’m beyond grateful to call it home. 🌈 happy hawaii anniversary!!! photo by @kayleent

Of all the adventures, this is sure to be our greatest. It’s with equal parts excitement and sheer and total panic panic that we continue exploring the world in anticipation of the arrival of our sure to be ginger Baby Woods (the name is cause for heated debate around here!) due Feb. 13, 2018! #ohcrap #wildcat #26weeksdeep. Third trimester in less than a WEEK! Was just going to share the news once the kid showed up, but Marshall wasn’t having that. Joining the preggo photographer’s club! ‘Cause you know we all are! Photo by @kayleentphoto thank you for your patience in making my vision happen, girl you’re a magician!! Kauai, Maui, Thailand, East Coast, this baby has been everywhere already!

The first time I ever received Jeremiah 29:11 Marshall and I were going to hear a famous motivational speaker Nick Vujicic at the Aloha Stadium. Hand in hand we walked with the crowds across the parking lot as a young boy quietly passed Marshall a ripped sheet of paper with just this scripture written on it, not saying a word. When we got into the stadium I searched the web for the scripture and I remembered thinking “I’m pretty sure this is actually for ME...”. Years have gone by and that conviction has proven correct as that same heart felt promise always always ALWAYS gets delivered to me, either by friends, people praying over me, random flips landing in the Bible, or most recently and timely the wall of a restaurant bathroom as I anxiously mulled over our future and questioned what was next, the pit in my stomach of the unknown as I had a feeling God was showing me a glimmer of the upcoming season. While I don’t know everything the days ahead entail what I DO know is that Jesus loves me and has a great, great plan for our lives, better than anything I can even dream for myself. And this girl has a wild and ambitious imagination! He created the EARTH for crying out loud, why do I think I could do any better for my own simple life? “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” 💘Also, remember all those rainbows? Well, I’ve figured them out. 🌈 photo in my favorite Kalama Park bougainvillea bush + disco ball sparkles by the glorious @kayleent

My travel partner, fellow wedding photographer, mutual red beard lover, older “Twin” + zipper pouch hoarder: “Surah”. As of this weekend she may officially be a Collins but together we will ALWAYS be Goodwin Girls and forever adventurers. Thailand may have missed you this go ‘round but there are plenty more mission trips to take — and hopefully no more rogue monkey stories or white squall scares. CONGRATS girlfriend! Your wedding was one for the books! 👌🏼

Thailand is such an interesting country, a mix of shiny wealth (in Bangkok) with "eclectic shops" with tile floors, tin roofs and lots of blue tarps and squatty potties. So much to see and even more to smell (LOLOL --it definitely has a distinct scent!) the land of smiles always has little gems here and there that make my heart leap! Like this painting I spotted paired with chic motorcycle rental info and the always necessary wifi code when dipping into a small "boutique" hotel to use the toilet. When on a mission we are always prepped and told no matter what your "vice" is, God will give you grace, especially in places encountering sites, sounds and smells you're not accustomed too, and I'm here to testify it's so true! I love this place for sure yet there are definitely instances where I look back and this germaphobe thinks "wow! Praise God he helped me to not even think twice about eating/touching/showering/cuddling!" And praise god for protecting my mind against judgement in cities that are different than mine, sometimes easier said than done. Because while I have a knack for photographing the colors and pretties I'm drawn to, one thing you don't always see is the trueness outside the comforts of home -- which to me adds to the charm. It really is magnificent to explore outside your cushy comfort zone. Maybe I'll post a photo of the footlong lizard (aka ALLIGATOR) Gale and Craig found crawling in their mountaintop treehouse room next...😳🦎🐊😱🤣😂.

"In remembrance of his majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej". When this trip was planned months ago it wasn't known the incredibly important time it would be for the country of Thailand. The streets are quiet and empty, businesses are all closed and the people continue to wear all black morning the loss of their country's father who is being cremated this evening. For a people we all care so deeply for, their hurt is our hurt and their mourning is our mourning. Their King was a great man and it's an honor to be present for the ceremony of his life here in Bangkok today. 🖤🌼 #kingrama9 #kingbhumibol

Interesting new things I learned from Missionary Pastors in Thailand:

1. If the Hunger Games were based in Thailand, Bangkok would be the Capitol

2. The Thai language is one based on 5 tones, or the way words are said and where inflections are placed. There's a monotone, upward tone, downward tone etc. and the way you say a word can make it have multiple meanings. Hence the tone is VERY important. .

3. Thai is a language both said and written in complete thoughts opposed to single words and/or sentences. .
4. Hilltribe villagers politely shake hands, Thai people greet with a "wai", their hands pressed together in a prayer like movement. This isn't a greeting itself but a instead a show of respect. .

5. Who greets who with a wai is based on social class. Someone of lower class would be the one to greet those of upper class. However, age trumps all and younger people show respect to the elders. .

6. For this reason it's common for Thai people to ask questions in effort to figure out your class in the initial conversation: what do you do for work, how much money do you make, when did you graduate, etc. This helps them recognize out the social status of who they are speaking with so they can communicate accordingly. .

7. Their number one complaint about foreigners is the disrespectful way that we dress! But they wouldn't tell you that. Instead what they WILL tell you is wether or not they think you're fat. 😳🤣😂

Most of my testimonies aren't ones that are "quick and easy" shares as they build on story to story, glory to glory. (Plus if you know me, then you know I'm a talker and in my mind all details are relevant to the story 😂. Marshall begs to differ.) God is always taking me by the hand to the next step, building little by little on the same foundation Christ laid for me (and on the cross). My testimony that got me going back to church is one that was sparked out of darkness but I allowed Jesus to fan that spark which rushed into a flame and eventually a full on wildfire for the Lord. Like, legit. This mission trip has been a "chill" one in terms of schedules go but was clearly ordained as 5 of us 8 are members of the prayer team. And let me tell you, every step has been one requiring prayer and covered in it. I'm so thankful for the couples, families, children and teammates I've been able to lay hands on and pray for and the opportunity for the Holy Spirit to use me as a vessel -- pouring his blessings through me out onto others who I had divine appointments to meet. These prayers aren't just for others but the blessings have hydrated and renewed MY soul, taking me to the next level of my future and bringing it all full circle. Darkness into light. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." BURN BABY, BURN!!!!! 🔥

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19. My fourth trip to Thailand and no matter where I live, arriving in Chiang Mai always feels a little bit like home and the Shining Light Church like family. #chaingmai #thailand While I'm not active much scrolling or commenting while here I'm trying to be diligent in documenting our stay via Insta stories in case you're curious!

Been super in the zone during this mission to Thailand. I made the decision to officially join the team very last minute (about two weeks prior to take off!) and while it's been a mental test to "leave it all behind" and focus on what GOD has called me to do instead of my own lingering list, it's been a blessing. He has, however, been convicting me about being in the present and avoiding posting on social media + scrolling emails, even in those blips of time where I get enough internet to access. So much so i accidentally left my phone in a truck (I got it back!) but my panic showed me how much I needed to shift my perspective and this little device needed to be ripped away. To keep my mind in the game, not at home or where my mind tends to always be: 24/7 business. (Something I've made my idol). But in the word, prayer, and Thai people sitting across from me. 🙌🏻 goal: post, don't scroll

In concrete streets filled with striped tarps, plastic baskets and metal siding amongst, leave it to me to find all the pastels + pink. Today it's all about pink, and ALWAYS about that color + pattern. But who knows what tomorrow will bring. 🎀🌴 #bangkok #thailand

Packing for a whole lotta travel from now until December 1 got me wishing I had spent more days at the beach. I love to see the world, but as of right now, nothing beats calling Hawaii home.
