It's me! And my 'beach body'... Ahaha whatever the hell that means! And I'm having fun on the sand, wobbling and trying to balance and do some tricky optical illusion where it looks like I'm holding the sun in my hand whilst doing a variation of King Dancer Pose (Natarajasana).ย It was silly, but felt good to play and enjoy my body in the warmth of the late summer.
I didn't even think about the people on the beach watching me fuss about, or that I probably look completely bonkers. I mean this is Japan after all, and I sort of stick out being a full figured westerner who is considered tall by local standards (and I'm not! I'm about 164cm). And then there I am at sunset throwing weird shapes on the beach and being photographed- not so weird for social media, but in reality this isn't Thailand or Bali - this is out of the ordinary and there are literally no visible Yoginis about doing Insta posing 24/7 in Okinawa. Hell may be I am embarrassing myself to the point of offended!?
You know what though, after the 11th attempt I came to look at the photo, my beloved boyfriend so patiently angled and edged around me so the sun thing would work, and he'd done it perfectly, but...ย But I was disappointed. I didn't look as good as I imagined. โšก๏ธ
I wasn't long and elegant like a ballerina. I didn't look like all those others Yogini's online... I mean it's as though I forgot I was next to naked in my swimwear! The little critical voice in my head went on... And this is despite the fact I've done a shit tonne of work on my self esteem and body image stuff and here it was rearing it's destructive little head... โšก๏ธ
And then, I shut it down. I remembered that voice of comparison doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the media, to mean spirited men and women, and ideologies that I have long decided have no place in my life. I then remembered how much I love and deeply accept myself exactly as I am. And the amazing and magical things my body does for me every minute of everyday. โšก๏ธ
If this post resonates with you, I've written a few blogs recently about how I've supported and grown my self-love ๐Ÿ’• Link in my bio or start out with this one:

It's a new moon this eve Beautiful humans.ย A powerful and auspicious time for clearing and release, endings and new beginnings. Today I'm setting aside some time to set intentions for the month (moonth, moon cycle ahead) and a little into 2018 too! Actually, forget intentions, I'm being direct - and asking for exactly what I want. Why don't you join in too?
Being confident in your own needs and wants is an unmistakeable way to self-motivate, create clarity and precision and truly embody our inner desires. It can be as simple as writing in a notebook that you can refer back to throughout the month, or your daily alarm message that flashes to wake you in the morning, or out of your afternoon slumber. It might be a list of things or have a single focus: sign up to that weekly yoga class, or a commitment to changing your health through prepping meals or walking daily. Whatever it is, now is the time.
Learning to clearly ask for what you want takes practice, repeated trial and error. But fret not, there are no mistakes! And you'll get another chance to get your intention in 28 days time when the next new moon comes round! I'll write a wee blog about the New Moon Rituals in the coming weeks, so be sure to sign up to my email at

Blue skies for the first time since we arrived! It rained pretty much non stop since Friday ๐Ÿ˜‚ Fortunately itโ€™s never cold, averaging 28 degrees. This was the view from the monorail ๐Ÿš on the way to Shilin Night Markets.

One of my favourite things about travel is experiencing art, and modern public art is often the most interesting ๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™m in Taipei and found this in along a subway concourse. For me, this water statue is sort what nightmares are made of... low key ones at least! Although this is called โ€˜Daydreamโ€™. Swipe for artwork notes. Whatโ€™s your take?

It's world mental health day.ย I'm choosing to spend a couple of quiet hours by myself enjoying a beautiful, nourishing hot cacao and a gentle yoga Nidra by my teacher Uma Dinsmore-Tuli.
For my 'me time', I set the scene preparing quiet and privacy, in my regular meditation spot. I play gentle and soothing music (a little Deva Premal never hurt anyone๐Ÿ˜) and a little aromatherapy to scent, and then I simply enjoy the time and space. No expectations, no pressures. Just allowing. ๐ŸŒŸ
Self-care doesn't have to be complicated, but you do need a few boundaries to feel the impact. Make your own set of rules. Mine include no interruptions, no gadgets/ electronic devices, and no time pressures. The last one is critical for actual rest and calm. I mean how can anyone relax if they have to do it within 20 minutes!? ๐ŸŒŸ
How will you support yourself today? What does keeping yourself mindful and being compassionate to the self look like for you?

Have I mentioned the situation with Pancakes in Oki? ๐Ÿฅž
They're very very good at light, fluffy and instagram-able side of things. Pretty much A+++
This is A Happy Pancake, at Umikaji Terrace on the coasts. Says what it does on the tin. Highly recommend and the view's pretty epic too! Swipe to see!

If you saw my Insta story, we had a visit to Zhyvago coffee in Chatan, on the west coast Okinawa. Don't let people tell you otherwise, but the Okinawans know how to make coffee. The one in this pick belongs to @thekiltedkarateka. Swipe to see my iced tea and our cookies ๐Ÿช

Me in every second Tsuboya Pottery Village store, "I'll take the whole collection and the wooden shelves too thanks" ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Wondering the streets of Naha - there's no better than the famous Tsuboya Pottery Village. So much inspiration, and some sweet independent businesses. Exactly how I like my art. ๐ŸŽŽ
According to Wiki, Tsuboya became Okinawa's centre of production in 1682 when after the kilns of Chibana, Wakuta, and Takaraguchi were consolidated under the Ryukyu Kingdom. WWII tragically impacted Tsuboyaโ€™s craft businesses, however the community's resilience and commitment ensured dozens of multi generational workshops are still operating today.

Confession time... I'm addicted to Matcha ๐Ÿต Aaaaand this combination of Matcha and #boba is next level. I gave up coffee while walking the Caminho - after getting a horrible stomach bug - and haven't looked back. I know, crazy all the tasty coffee โ˜•๏ธ I missed out on in Portugal, but honestly my mind and body is much happier, calmer and I can really listen into my energy and mood dips. If I'm tired I have to really assess how / what I'll give my time and attention to. Trust me, there have been quite a few temptations along the way - especially when I'm exhausted, but it really has been a powerful, simple change in my routine. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผโญ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Today's @doreenvirtue oracle is Celtic Goddess Oonagh (OO-nuh). I've been using oracle and tarot cards for a long time but have never really spoken about them.
Maybe you're wondering what woo-woo thing is an oracle card deck?! Well it's something that I like to do as an evening ritual- mostly before I sleep. I'll shuffle, pull out a card, read the message and then encourage my mind to sleep on it- literally. The mind does all sorts of juicy things while it sleeps: consolidates learning and recall; flushes toxins produced during waking hours; and best yet DREAMING! I like to see if the cards can have a suggestive affect on my subconscious and may bring about extra messages and learning while ๐Ÿ˜ด and it's then something I can take into my day after waking.

I also feel they're a simple, loving, and supportive gesture I can offer to myself when I become world weary by the madness of media, world events and general confusion of my own life! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Anyhoo! Today I shuffled and this babe fell out! Oonagh says, "There is no need to hurry or force things to happen. Everything is occurring in perfect timing.โ€ Her deeper message says, "Never mind what other people think; you will benefit by carrying through with your priorities. Youโ€™ll feel so good about yourself if you make time for the relationships and projects that truly count in your heart. Do whatโ€™s important to you, and do it with absolute devotion! But remember that thereโ€™s no competition for your true lifeโ€™s purpose, so thereโ€™s no need to worry, hurry, or feel that you have to force things to happen.โ€ May be it's a message that's good for you too? Have you given yourself permission to take it easy recently? It's been a BIG year for humanity... We're all working so hard. In these last few months of the 2017, give yourself time to catch your breath and focus on the most aligned actions you can take as we make the final push towards the end of the year. Xx ๐Ÿš๐Ÿ“ฟ๐Ÿ’œ
