Lately, I've been spending my Sunday afternoons walking around Los Angeles taking photos. With work and the everyday responsibilities of life, Sunday afternoon has become my time to work on my photography. Sometimes I have something specific in mind to shoot like a nice mural, some cool neon, or just Downtown LA (I love shooting Downtown). Recently, I've been trying to branch out from my usual spots and explore the city. That's how I found myself around the Hyde Park neighborhood in South LA walking up & down Florence Ave. a couple Sunday's ago. What I discovered is that photography is a great way to hear people's stories. Several people stopped & asked me what I was taking photos of and they all had stories. One of those people was Mr. Tyrone Bell and he was kind enough to let me take a few photos of him. I stood on the other side of the fence & listened as he told me the fascinating history of his family in Louisiana, stories from his younger days, and a bit of the history of the neighborhood. Mr. Bell is a native Angeleno, a former boxer, and helped build the metro line. It was a pleasure meeting him & hearing about his life. I'm not sure where I'll end up next Sunday, but I hope I run into more people like Mr. Bell. #streetphotography #blackandwhitephoto #southLA #hydepark #blackandwhiteportrait #LA #losangeles #insta_la #fromthestreets #peopleoflosangeles #peopleofla #losangelesgrammers
