Ganoderma lucidun & my Shen Reishi Chai
.
.
Wood like strong Reishi🍄one of the adaptogenic fungi's that I like to work with. She is grounding and strengthening. Opening to the heart and calming to my mind and nerves. .
.
Herbal notes: .
Immune boosting .
Anti-inflammatory .
Ally to the lungs - especially for those of us with asthma and other repository conditions. .
Anti-bacterial
.
Anti-Cancer properties
.
Ally to the cardiovascular system - lowering blood pressure, lowering cholesterol - improving blood flow. Strengthening to the heart muscle .
Improving oxygen .
Improving hepatic (liver) function.
.
Calming to the nerves (anti- depressant and anti-anxiety properties) .
Allergy time she is an ally - inhibiting histamine release. .
Being an adaptogen she is an ally to work with to help deal/cope with the daily stressors (we all need adaptogens) 🍄
.
.

When working with Reishi, Chaga, etc I've found it easier to break a piece off to the smallest of chunks then pounding it with a hammer to open up the cellular walls Then chopping it up into smaller pieces in the blender. Decocting Reishi as I would dried berries, bark, root, seeds any hard wood like plants. I actually simmer Reishi for 2 hours adding other plants in later toward the end. .
Shen Reishi Chai:
.
1 part Reishi
1 part Astragalus Root
1 part Burdock Root
1 part Licorice Root
1 part Cardamom Seeds
1 part Cinnamon Bark
1 part cloves .
Adding coconut cream and almond milk (you can add your milk of choice) .
For extra yumminess I add 8oz of Reishi Chai + 1tsp coconut oil blend and its frothy ... dusting with nutmeg powder 💚🍄 (I chop all roots, bark, seeds in the blender before decocting)

The fragile Joshua Trees need our help! Bringing awareness to the delicate ecosystem to folks like @dollklaw (she blocked me along with many of us other desert folks who sent her messages about her post where she and her friends hung hammocks on Joshua Trees) .
.
Fact: Joshua Trees - Yucca brevifolia are not a tree, in fact they are part of the Yucca family and are massive succulents that can grow up to 40ft and live for 200 years. Their root system is shallow making it very easy to uproot. Hanging from a Joshua Tree, climbing one for photos, etc can actually damage the plant. .
.
I've seen high winds snap the delicate arms of a Joshua Tree. This plant thrives under some harsh conditions and doesn't need invaders coming to destroy her. Climate change is enough. .
.
If you come to the High Desert and visit the @joshuatreenps please stay on trails, don't drive off the road, keep your dogs on a leash, LEAVE NO TRACE, PACK OUT, those signs that say "wild life restoration" keep out of those areas please. In fact whenever we are in nature we should have better ethic. .....
Anyhow new blog post:

@DOLLKLAW THIS IS NOT OK! 😡😡😡I was sent a link to this tourist boasting her post @desertdaze_official extravaganza in the @joshuatreenps hanging hammocks on Joshua Trees has really struck a cord with me... .
.
I'm a plant geek that calls Joshua Tree home. Actions like these really bum me out and loathe tourist who come to party and destroy our desert
😡
.
.
To all you folks coming to the High Desert, Joshua Trees are a threatened species. With climate change and the many years of drought the iconic Joshua Trees are in threat. Many are dying and have not reproduced in years. Therefor are protected and acts like tying up hammocks, piñata's, climbing, standing, hanging on these delicate beauties can harm/kill the trees. .
.
Respect the ecosystem • Respect the desert • Respect Mother Earth •🌏
.
.
Familiarize yourselves with the phrases "LEAVE NO TRACE" & "PACK OUT". .
.
@dollklaw has ignored comments and messages made by other desert locals who nicely explain why her post encourages behavior like this. .
.
Any harm, damage, vandalizing etc a Joshua Tree can end in fines and penalties. .
.
Please help us HELP @dollklaw realize that this is far from cool and the urgency of respecting the land is important. She is blatantly stating that violating Joshua Trees is ok. .
.
If you can't respect Mother Earth, perhaps being stuck in a concrete jungle suits your kind! 🌏✊🏽👊🏽

Such a rad experience to climb with this legend - John Long. The first crack route that I climbed was a Largo route - Dung Fu - Hemingway Buttress - JTNP. It had me nearly puking by the time I made my way up the summit..... .

Crataegus monogyna - Hawthorn member of the Rose 🌹 family this small tree offers medicine for the heart on a physical level & a spiritual level❤️
.
Taking my green allies wherever I go! Hawthorn leaf and flower infusion. 💚
.......
I ❤️ the taste of Hawthorn, especially a decoction of the berries. On a physical level, hawthorn is a heart tonic known to .
.strengthening to the heart 💪🏽
.
.lowering high blood pressure .
.prevent heart attacks, strokes .
.help in recovery post heart surgery .
.dilate the arteries allowing blood to move. Increasing blood flow to the heart. .decreasing bad cholesterol .
.improving blood pressure .
.an ally during times of grief, gloom, loss, depression.
.lifting to the emotional heart and lifting of spirits. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
.
On the emotional & spiritual level, Hawthorn is an ally for those experiencing trauma, shock, anxiety, fear, heart aches or the feeling of a heart that is broken.
.
Hawthorn was one of the green allies I worked with after going through some big change in my life that left me feeling like I had an emotional whiplash and angry. Wanting to release the grief and anger and open my heart I began to work with Hawthorn along with other heart chakra plants like Rose, Rose Hips, Linden.
.
.She helped calm the stressful situations, soothing & calming to my spirit, offering a protective feeling to the heart, allowing me to open up and not closing myself. Her thorns are symbolic of the protective offerings she gives. Almost like a shield for the heart on a spiritual level. She's opening to the ❤️allowing one to give and receive love. She helps in bringing forth the expression that many of us suppress after a traumatic shift that leaves many feeling jaded.
.
.
She's one of the heart medicines that I love. Her leaves & flowers loose their potency after a few months but the berries retain their potency longer. If working with the berries read up on how to make a decoction. .........

With seasons changing so does our skin, hair and scalp. I've been seeing more cases of my clients having dandruff, dry hair, complaining of itchy scalp etc since we have entered Autumn. .
.
Diet, stress, hard water, and the more dryer of climate can be cause of dry scalp, dandruff, itchy scalp dry skin and hair. So create a ritual embracing the sweetness of SELF LOVE & SELF CARE❤️
.
.
Dandruff is a fungus many folks don't know this. I've been seeing so many cases of dandruff & dry hair. One thing to consider is your water. Hard water is loaded with high mineral content especially calcium and magnesium. Hard water will cause dry skin, forming a scaly film that makes cleansing and moisturizing difficult. Check your water & get a water filter for the shower head that will filter out those minerals that are culprits to bad hair days, dry skin, scalp & dandruff.
.
.
Natural remedies:
.
Stimulate the scalp, increase blood flow by brushing the scalp with a boar bristle brush. Loosen up build up & move natural oils through lengths & ends before washing hair
.
.
1 tbsp of Borax per half cup hot water (stir to dissolve) apply to scalp in shower & allow to dry followed with washing with a mild shampoo (moisturizing shampoo/conditioner) .
Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) has more uses than only in the kitchen. As a kid my mom would make rosemary water that I would rinse with to help stimulate hair growth and keep dandruff away. Adding 1tbsp of Borax to half cup of rosemary infusion - wash hair as usually followed with a rinse. Get yourself an oil infused with rosemary and massage into scalp after .
Apple Cider Vinegar 1tbsp to 1c of water rinse.
.
Coconut Oil another anti-fungal natural way to control dandruff and moisturize the scalp by massaging a bit into the scalp. .
Nourishing Herbal Infusions, I like Nettle, Oatstraw, Blue Pea, Chaga, Burdock Root, Cordyceps to help keep skin hydrated, scalp supple, helping in daily stressors (adaptogens) and lifting spirits. .
