    Like actual duck fat?

  • ab_ccp 281w ago

They probably shouldn't look tasty to me but they do

  • @spoonervirus yes, actual duck fat! They are fantastic, dont worry, I think they would appeal to most vegetarians!

What a weird summer. I'm ready for it to be over. But even though, right now, it feels like it's taking us three beats to do a two-step ... we're kind of loving the freedom. #beholdentonogarbage #vaguepost β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €

Yang Yang Lakes - a welcome sight for our second night of camp. We got here with plenty of daylight left, squeezed in 2 dinners, finished off our wine ration (vowing to bring more next time), and got plenty of sleep and rest to tackle the formidable Le Conte glacier (that hunk of ice elegantly lurking in the background). // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
"Crepuscule is defined as the twilight or dusk of the day. As the most romantic and significant period of day; it symbolizes the border between day and night. This period of partial darkness is the most breathtaking, extraterrestrial phenomenon human beings witness everyday. Nevertheless, crepuscule is a metaphor for all borders in life: the haziness of the day, the day’s end, and the uncertainty of the upcoming night, as well as life." β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β € β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
To those of us going through the hazy uncertainties of life right now - HANG IN THERE. The sun will come out and burn with brilliance again. // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
First camp at Kool-Aid on the Ptarmigan Traverse, sleeping the light away. If you look closely, you can see me passed out on my sleeping pad. πŸ˜‚ (from just a couple hours sleep the night before and a long early morning shuttling cars around. Embarrassingly enough, I didn't drive at all 😳, not as tough as I pretend to be!) πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
"I see the deepest greens, I hear the darkest blues" ... experienced some serious mountain-induced synesthesia courtesy of the Ptarmigan Traverse last weekend! TBH, I am not the biggest fan of camping; I much prefer to do nearly everything in one push if I can help it (or camp begrudgingly). But the North Cascades continues to dumbfound me with all its mind-staggering beauty. I would have gladly spent weeks here if I could. If there's a place to slow down, it's definitely here. More pictures to come! (sorry, am having the longest short week of playing catch-up at work) // Spider-Formidable Col, πŸ“Έ @jacehopper, 🎢 Open Mike Eagle
#fbf to our lazy hazy run through the Mount Margaret backcountry. The smoke has now cleared and sunny skies are up ahead - a new day, another try, a fresh start. 😎 #alsobyebannon! #draintheswamp
A little work for our lunch climb up Prusik yesterday. We both admitted to quietly telepathing the other to call off the climb as we headed up Aasgard Pass the second day in a row. But seeing that granite spire seemingly launch into space the closer we approached, I'm so glad we were both shamed/guilted into keeping our mouths shut and sticking this one out. What a beaut. πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
The start to an amazing (ly painful?) weekend in the Enchantments. πŸ™ŒπŸ½πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ½Thru-run with the Matts and Joel.

Speed ascent recon on Mt. Shasta, but turned away at 11k by unexpected high winds. Can't be too disappointed though. I'm always amazed when I experience how fitness can shrink mountains. Last time we summited Shasta, it was a whole ordeal that seemed to have taken days to complete. Now, we're trying to run up it in tights and trail running shoes! // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper #arcteryxportland #stravarun #mountainrunning #bearandreckon

All the environmental activism talk has me thinking a lot about how critical diversity and inclusivity is for the movement. How can we inspire EVERYONE to seek a relationship with the natural world, to be invested in the environment? "Climbing is a pastime available primarily to those with the disposable income and leisure time to squander on an activity that has virtually no socially redeeming qualities. That's probably why I ... enjoy it so much. Climbing is the very definition of freedom." (The Adventure Gap, James Mills) **Shouldn't everyone have the opportunity to experience that freedom?** [Mt. Stuart via SGC] // πŸ“Έ@jacehopper #arcteryxportland #ourwild #everytrailconnects #bearandreckon #melaninbasecamp #brownpeoplecamping
Still riding the highs from last weekend's climb up Mount Stuart via SGC, which gave us a little bit of everything - steep snow, ice, and rock (not to mention the heinous off-trail approach...). Piecing together multiple disciplines for a successful summit bid was not only fun and gratifying, but I'm finding myself more confident in the mountains and super pumped about incorporating more climbing into all the silly hobbies I've adopted. #arcteryxportland #mountainstories #outsideisfree #outsideisfreezing
Fun little run up Reid with John and Joel. It's a little less blue than the last time we went up it, but I'm just happy to have found some "closure" from our RHW + Wy'east Whiteout debacle a few years back! #arcteryxportland #bearandreckon // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper

Felt great to get the legs turning over a bit faster on our beloved Forest Park trails after our long road trip! Bonus - the most epic of bonking the last couple miles because, despite my greatest desire, fried chicken is not sufficient sustenance. // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
Sometimes even the best laid plans .... aw who am I kidding. Our Colfax attempt was a decision based on a whim on a recent, random, blurry Instagram picture, heavily "researched" while driving cross-country through Canada on very limited cell service in the mountains. Of course everything was gonna go wrong. Didn't feel like going through an epic so we bailed. Learned a ton about what not to do and what not to take for granted. Still another day on the mountain. Still alive, so alive. So there's that. // πŸ“Έ @jacehopper
